ribber31 Posted 14 August 2011 Posted 14 August 2011 Ok, I have never been here before but just have to say, has Sven EVER actually achieved anything with ANY team without having buckets of dosh to spend? Look at his history. He buys players he thinks can coach themselves and when they come across teams with a a good coaching set up he is useless. He is footballs prostitute and proved it at Notts County by running away at the thought of having to coach a team of regulars when it was adamant the cash he was promised wasn't going to materialize. Is this the kind of man we think will take us to the premiership? He hasn't a clue and anyone who thinks he is up for it, please prove me wrong.

A few days ago the majority on here were very happy with the signings we'd made, now after a bad 90 minutes it's all gone to shit and we might as well pack up and go home now. A lot of money spent, all be it defensive side of things which was much needed after last season!! 1st half was bloody hard to explain. they all looked a bit lost, yuki abe was the worst ive ever seen him!! But at half time i thought fair enough. Give them time to get to know each other. 2nd half we come out Andy King come one and we had a good 15 minutes, when nugent hit the post it was agonising. That gone in i believe we would of won the game. However they went up and snatched one, then we just looked completely out of it. we never looked like scoring, To put Sol bamba up as a striker just summed it up. Im not having a go at sven cos i believe he can bring success to us. im not slating the team cos its only the 2nd game but we have to be realistic. if we wanna go up this season, we have we MUST show more than that up front. We do need 2 strikers up top at home, I believe loaning steve howard out is wrong. many hate him here but he defo has potential to change a game when he comes on. We also need a good winger, Jimmy Kebe has shown for the last 2-3 seasons against us how quality he is. Would fit well in our team. please dont slate me for this post im leathered and will re asses it in the morning. BLUE army x

It's always going to be a mistake not starting last seasons top scorer as well as our only player who likes to shoot from outside the box- gally. How you go about accommodating them all I don't know and am very glad its not my problem!

There is too much of that on here.. Being told what you can and can't say.. Anyway, I think you make some very valid points, especially about the lack of goals in the team... I posted yesterday and maintain that this is due to two main reasons. Firstly, we do not attack quickly enough as a unit and secondly we have no width. Pace and wingers who can beat a defender will make a big difference.
The Year Of The Fox Posted 14 August 2011 Posted 14 August 2011 Completely agree with your comments about Howard Norfolkfox. We are by no means too good a team for him. Yesterday was pretty much a 'lump the ball up to Nugent' day. Howard is far more effective in that role than nugent.

Agree but I would give Pantsil a start on Wednesday, he was steady just not the pacy right back we have come to expect in the last season. We changed formation 3-4 times yesterday, the problem was we were too narrow and lacked any pace, Mills is a carthorse, Danns looked like a world beater with Palace when he came to the Walkers, he's arrived at the King Dong looking a shadow of that player, Nugent will feed off a striker that is direct and straight through the middle, plus needs support all around him, we just dont have that becuase there is no pace from midfield galloping up in support. Gallagher is that man to float around Nugent, buit he's warming the bench.

If we played '4-5-1 at best' in the 1st half, why are you jibbering on about playing 4-4-2 with no wingers in your OP. The idea was for Danns to play on the right of the front 3, which didn't work out so we swapped to a diamond of which Danns was at the top. Thought myself the diamond worked quite well at the start of the 2nd half. As for people saying Howard should come in......mental checks needed

Feel we had to start with him today. And we started 4-3-3. These 'rants' are moronic. I do agree with this, how often have we had a moan about not giving our younger players a chance? Personally I'd have had him on the bench and brought him on as an impact player later on should we have needed to, lets face it, he must have been full of confidence. Even then, I don't think it was as much that he started the game but more of hwre Sven put him i.e. out on the left. The team didn't seem balanced, it had no width for a start. Its as if Sven thought 'I've bought all these players so I'm going to have to justify it by putting them all on at the same time. Overall there have been some decent signings but some are no better than what we already had. For me we are short of a creative midfielder still (yet we're got plenty of similar ones to chose from) and of course a striker. We needed to get the ball to the likes of Schlupp and Nugent which didn;t happen (Torres, Rooney and Drogba can't score if no-one gives them the ball). It was crying out for Gallagher who eventually came on and perhaps someone like Dyer who can run at defences and cause a bit of panic. We were too narrow and predictable, for me only Schmichel and Bamba came out with much glory.

[/quote if pantsil was the obvious choice to replace peltier was danns the obvious choice to replace vassell? what has dyer done wrong? if not sven needs to buy a attacking winger who can get behind defences and can occupy opposing defences more. :unsure:

As for people saying Howard should come in......mental checks needed what i was trying to say in my op, was that we really started 4-4-2 danns as the third striker was never on,he is no sriker, which eventually ended up by the end of the first half 4-5-1as we became more fustrated.at home,favorites to win the league, and we could not play three attacting strikers this gave reading all the confidance needed. sven has shown his hand, he has little confidance in dyer, waghorn, gallagher, howard. with all our signings, unless the forward line is addressed,this may well be a long hard season. :frusty:

Before we switched to a 4-4-2 diamond within 20ish mins where Nugent and Schlupp went up top. Do some research, people might think you 'didn't know the gane' otherwise....
