ithuriel Posted 12 September 2011 Posted 12 September 2011 When Bamba was injured and out for some games towards the end of last season our defence was just as poor, but a scapegoat is required again I've already stated that the problem is more likely our left and right backs are badly exposed and opposing teams get at them and tear our defence up. Pantsil and Kochensky are not bad players but we often see or hear how they are got at and our fullbacks have to watch the flanks and get pulled away from covering the centre of defence. Whether this is due to playing 4-3-3 or not having a good balance in midfield who knows Here is one for you, if Sven knows what he is doing and he constantly picks Bamba then maybe it is not Bamba that is the problem, now if you say Bamba is the problem then Sven clearly does not know what he is doing

Have no leadership or organiser that the back. I agree. Not the classiest footballer but did a job - well. Was a shouter too, organised the back four.

I still shudder when I recall how Robert Earnshaw owned the nazi at the City Ground. He was one of the slowest defenders I've ever seen in a City shirt. The fact we still made the top 6 that season shows how weak the league was (and still is).

But one of the best centre-halfs we've ever had was Matt Elliott, and he was hardly Usain Bolt!

Christoph Posted 12 September 2011 Posted 12 September 2011 Let's go old school and get 3 centre backs at the back I'n a 3-5-2. Seeing as our fullbacks aren't very attacking, a midfield role may help them contribute abit more while they still naturally keep to their defensive roles
