The Jolly Boys' Outing to Margate

Fond memories of Margate even though it was a shithole. Went on a stag do there in the 90s and stayed at Buster Bloodvessels old B+B , Fatty Towers. Wondered why the locals called the town nightclub Jurassic Park until my mate copped of with an old girl in her 60s!

Darrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrn to Margate - (Spurs - *spit*)

Erm. Margate is undergoing something of a revamp. Well, if a rubbish art gallery and expensive (crap) coffee shops liberally sprinkled in between the empty and decaying shops can be called a revamp. Seems that is what 'regeneration' is in this country now.

I swear regeneration was soulless shopping arcades and out of town skateparks. I guess I'm just stuck in the noughties. Times move so fast.

Didn't the Apprentice contribute to the urban generation that now sees Margate vying for The European City of Culture?

And the closure of Fatty Towers single handedly added 10k to the price of a 3 bed semi

Probably. There has been plenty of apprentice type marketing spiel coming out.

Quite a few places down this way are getting the treatment. Folkestone is actually looking a lot better (went there recently)

The sad (and snobby thing) is that you can spend however much you want putting art galleries and stuff in these towns but ultimately you'll mainly attract school parties, since most other people don't want to wander about the beaches of south eastern England with pissed up pikeys and their dogs sh itting and throwing fag ends all over the beach.

I don't know what point I'm making. Actually I don't think I have one.

So who wants to join me throwing rubbish around London watching Leicester roll over and succomb to a superior side, rather than looking at art we don't understand in Margate?

Perhaps you and Thracian could finally bury the hatchet by sharing a hot chocolate nightcap in the double en-suite of an east end B+B

Fancy dress for the West Ham game should see our fans turning up en masse as Pearly Kings and Queens

Edit: That's better

It wouldn't end at Thracian and me though, would it?

It would be Thracian, Me, Ultra, Fultra, a tray of flapjack and eleven Levi Porters (cocaine).

Don't forget Elvis, Manpabs and Shush

I'd like to say that my earlier mispost was the result of a riotous night of hard drinking with the lads but the truth is it was down to posting on the i-phone whilst watching Newsnight

Anyway, long past my bedtime

I'll absolutely be there, shame I don't live in the Docklands as we could have had a pre match shindig.

Any suggestions where to meet? For old time's sake we could do the barrowboy and banker at London Bridge?

Since we're here, Crystal Palace away is definitely on. Despite the reasons I'm missing it, I'm still annoyed about West Ham.

I'll try to get to it too. Mid winter, could do with some wooden seats for firewood.
