bluesbrothers Posted 25 October 2011 Posted 25 October 2011 Granted, the past few performances have been sub-par, but there are still a number of players here who signed either because they knew Sven or because they wanted to play under him. Vassell Bamba Michael Johnson Schmeichel Fernandes Danns ...spring to mind straight away, then there are players who I reckon would have been off in the summer with the new influx if Sven weren't here... Wellens King Dyer I make that a whole slew of regulars who are here because of Sven. It better be a damn good appointment because these fellas are going to be pissed off.
cc_star Posted 25 October 2011 Posted 25 October 2011 Because they've collectively achieved what? We finished last season winning roughly a third of our games and that approximately has carried on this season, with B'hams 2 games in hand we're 14th Who cares what they all think, they're here to get in the Premiership & they're pretty far off doing that. If they want to realise their dream & play in the prem they need to pull their fingers out & Sven was obviously not the man to make them do it.

Only two of those players might merit a better contract elsewhere - Bamba and Schmeichel. King might have done so a few months back but, whatever the reasons, would need to re-establish the sort of form that got him noticed and to show that he can cope with close attention. Otherwise they're all on the gravy train and that goes for Beckford and Nugent too. I'm quite sure most will react professionally and might even warm to any changes if we start attacking games and showing a more expansive philosophy. There's always winners and losers in a managerial turnaround but either way the players will want to do their best. Either to stay part of the new manager's plans or to put themselves in the window for departure. The problems arise with the ones who get sidelined - but even they will be well paid for the inconvenience and a bad attitude travels fast in football so it's not to be recommended.
Tommy G Posted 25 October 2011 Posted 25 October 2011 This will be the biggest problem, I fear for our recruitment policy going forward aswell. Sven only got his office built at Belvoir Drive aswell last week - poor bloke
Corky Posted 25 October 2011 Posted 25 October 2011 Well they're playing for Leicester City now, not Sven, and I hope that they start showing what they can do.

Its their own fault they have under performed its as simple as that, let them throw their teddies out of the pram, couldnt give a flying fook about any player who isnt 100 per cent with Leicester City
Leicester Boy 46 Posted 25 October 2011 Posted 25 October 2011 i hope bamba and schmeichel? (spell check off) stay! for me we should never have parted with Nigel Pearson he had his players performing and took us from league 1 to the play-offs! hope we get someone decent who can recreate a Pearson like team or even better, the MON years

No man is more important than the club and I think by saying this you are putting Sven on a pedestal above the club. This will be the biggest problem, I fear for our recruitment policy going forward aswell.
