Dr The Singh Posted 25 October 2011 Posted 25 October 2011 That's fair. I just feel we have potential and it does take time to build consistency, just look at Man City. He got us playing some lovely stuff and at times watching us ping it around, I'd never seen us play like that before. We can't just keep giving managers the end half of a season then the first half of the next though. What happens next? Someone comes in....doesn't take us up....has an underwhelming start to next season....gets fired.....and so on? Or the owners could get a manager who does take us up, drives great improvements within half a season, anything is possible, I personally would have liked to have given until end of december to Sven, but the deed is done, we need to rally around our club, our players and support them as much as possible!!!!!
Soar Fox Posted 25 October 2011 Posted 25 October 2011 I've heard from someone quite reliable that it's going to be Mark Hughes. I don't know anything myself but just going on what I've been told.
whoareyaaa Posted 25 October 2011 Posted 25 October 2011 Back to the Original Post, in a ideal world of course, not only British but from Leicester ....problem is thats not going to happen, a foreign manager can do it here, Poyet is proving that, but I agree I would be going for someone of the Pearson/Warnock mould now rather the SGE role, wont happen though, these guys only know one way and that's a big name to be associated with King Power and to throw as much money at a situation and just hope it gets better with no thought of what might happen in 5/10 years time, it's almost like they have borrowed Gordon Brown's cabinet plan from 2007. Isnt that what they have just done, and being business men they will clearly not make the same mistake twice.. A lot of people keep commenting about the owners being stupid when clearly there not stupid as they wouldnt have money in the first place.. this is a new learning curve for them but they will take there knowledge of business and make sure things turn out right. Oneill would of course be there first choice no shadow about that, but will he want to come back is another story. I agree the manager does need to be british or at least have some anger inside them to get at the players when it aint going right something Sven clearly lacked, its ok being a nice guy but the players wont react and thats what has cost him his job. First choice O'neill if he rejects then I can see them going for Hughes.. ands the odds reflect this: 7/4 Hughes 6/5 O'neill one of these two names will be managing us next week for sure. Another thing to think about is this 100k bet on MON ? no one puts that sort of money down for no reasoning. Plus maybe the reason he didnt accept the job last year was because he was not 100% sure the Thia's would throw money at it like they have. Proof in the pudding. End of the day, lets get someone with a good track record and start pushing for promotion. should give a kick up the players arse's aswel!
astoriafox Posted 25 October 2011 Posted 25 October 2011 Sunday league style football? You may say that, but for me has been our best manager since MON. Spent little money, did very well and future looked promising before he went. People say he overachieved, but i'm sure many thought very similar things re Pulis. He has developed the team and club organically which to my mind is what Pearson was doing. I for one would swap place with Stoke City right now. Who would have said that 5 years ago? Pearson is also doing avery good job at Hull with limited resources.

Agree with the last part. I wish people would stop saying just because they are successful businessmen they are guaranteed to be successful in football though. It's no guarantee at all, it's a totally different project, picking football managers and selling duty free has no connection whatsoever, using the business logic every single football investor in the world who has procured a football club would be a raving success. That's clearly not the case and never will be. I'm more worried that being successful businessmen they could realise quicker than most they might struggle to make money and decide to cut their losses at some point as quick as possible.
blueredswed Posted 25 October 2011 Posted 25 October 2011 It´s time to go brittish perhapa Prince Charles? The best brittain youv´e got or?
Vacamion Posted 25 October 2011 Posted 25 October 2011 If your name ends in a vowel, or contains an umlaut, an acccent or requires us to whine down our noses or cough up phlegm, WE DON'T WANT YOUR SORT HERE... Mike Bassett it is then.
Heskey2011 Posted 25 October 2011 Posted 25 October 2011 Couldn't give a flying **** who's are manager is now to be honest, british or not, doesn't matter. MON would be grand but if it doesn't go well then i'd hate his legacy and previous achievements being tainted and have him run out of the city by the boo boys, if we take time to gel as a team as we did under Sven then no manager stands a chance. Gaurantee we will have at least 2 more managers b4 the end of season, and finish out of the playoffs with another season wasted. Just wish we'd stick with a manager any manager. long live who ever.
