FantasticMrFox Posted 25 October 2011 Posted 25 October 2011 Stability is what we need, not 15 managers in a little over 15 years. It's getting beyond a joke. At least if the master MON came back it would reduce this ridiculous statistic to 14. You can't expect an almost entirely new team (on rotation) to gel instantly. Sven wasn't doing too badly. Should have had more time.....
Adster Posted 25 October 2011 Posted 25 October 2011 We weren't stable under Sven. Clear as that. Got to agree with this.
acooling08 Posted 25 October 2011 Posted 25 October 2011 When we get a good manager (we're due surely!) then we can be stable.
FantasticMrFox Posted 25 October 2011 Author Posted 25 October 2011 Yes to a degree. But now we have a team of Sven's players and (probably) a sub-standard manager. Fingers and toes crossed I spose.....
CountesthorpeFox Posted 25 October 2011 Posted 25 October 2011 We weren't stable under Sven. Clear as that. Yes we were. Thats what that whole sacking thing was about. Mid-table stability.

Zingari Posted 25 October 2011 Posted 25 October 2011 the way i see it is , the owners want stability and they don't care how much they rock the boat to achieve it
Guest Col city fan Posted 26 October 2011 Posted 26 October 2011 This whole stability thing is bizarre.... Surely a club can continue with a poor manager at the helm for years if they really want to in this quest for stability.. We could have gone a decade with Martin Allen if we had chosen to in the vein hope that he developed into Sir Alex... But what's the point in this? Managers who more than likely (and that's all you can ever predict) are not up to the job are pretty much found out sooner rather than later. MON had what, ten games before it started to come good and those old enough to remember will note that this actually coincided with the signing of Stevie Claridge. Sven had had a year.... This is long enough to be able to gauge whether or not it's probable that he'd come up to scratch given the expectations of the owners. The Millwall game IMO was the straw that broke the camels back because it illuminated the fact that we could still be so shite a year into his tenancy. All the emotions and the tears of the Sven lovers on here, with vicious jibes and throwaway statements regarding 'loyalty' and 'sven-bashing' cooly seem to overlook the fact that we could spend so much money, assemble such a talented group of players and still, given this, produce such a display of incompetence against a mediocre Millwall side so as to be beyond belief. Just cast your minds back a few days and read what was written on here in the aftermath of the debacle... Pages and pages of disdain towards the manager, the players, the tactics etc etc etc....... I crave stability too.. But with the right man at the helm, steering the ship in the right way. When Brian Little left, for example, it wasn't because he had lost the dressing room, been tactically naive or played players out of position. Instead it was because Villa wanted him. When MON resigned from City it was on the back of a period of great success for the club. But the lure of Park Head was too great. Stability is good and reassuring if it serves a purpose. Brian little hit the ground running, MON had his difficult three months then shone.. Sven had had long enough, in my eyes anyway, to show me that we werent consistent enough under his stewardship. I'd like consistency, just with the right manager

Guest Posted 26 October 2011 Posted 26 October 2011 A win against Millwall and we would've been sitting 5th.

Should have had more time..... How about stability on the pitch, a settled line up, last season we had so many players and chopped and changed the line up and by the end we were still none the wiser as to what our strengths and weaknesses were and we had to start from scratch in the summer. This season we have slowly been getting it right on the pitch with a clear number 1 between the sticks and a settled back four, but the rest of the team are still trying to work out how to play with each other, especially in midfield. All of this lies with Sven and his coaches, I would love Sven to have been manager for the next ten years, but it wasn't working out, he had a year (not 13 games) and we don't look any better now than when he first took over. Stability is nothing without progress.

They don't want to play a long game, they want to do whatever it takes to get glory straight away.

They don't want to play a long game, they want to do whatever it takes to get glory straight away. As would any owner pumping in £10m+/year to cover losses each year we're out of the top flight. A collection of the club accounts for the past five years would make truly horrific reading. That's why the powers that be are so desperate for promotion this season.
Babylon Posted 26 October 2011 Posted 26 October 2011 Stability is great, and i'd accept a manager slowly climbing us up the league over three years. But a the same time there needs to be steady progress under that manager whomever they may be. People can accept a slow build if there at least signs of improvement and a grand plan, or at least very good reasons for there not being progress.
Guest Posted 26 October 2011 Posted 26 October 2011 Would've..could've..should've... DIDN'T! What a stupid response! We are 2 pts away from 5th - Fact - Is that simple enough for you? We are not without a chance of promotion.
