liamsm Posted 31 October 2011 Posted 31 October 2011 It's been proved time and time and time again that a midfield duo of King and Wellens is not strong or capable enough, even less so with Gallagher as one of the 'wide' men. when was that proved then, never mind time and time and time again? but if you are talking of only 2 midfielders then you are correct but i dont remember us playing with only 2 midfielders
liamsm Posted 31 October 2011 Posted 31 October 2011 Unless Dyer and Gallagher are fit or we sign more players please stop banging on about a 442.....we havent got the players capable. We do however have the players capable of a diamond...stick with it. Play to your strengths not to what you would like to be your strengths. Howard as an impact sub is useful....starting a game is a massive step backwards IMO if playing the diamond is our strenght then we are fvcked, that was Svens down-fall
General Smuts Posted 31 October 2011 Posted 31 October 2011 If I was manager I'd have the pick of the ladies.
liamsm Posted 31 October 2011 Posted 31 October 2011 Arsenal have won 8 of their last 9 matches. Someone please name their wingers, on the basis that somehow people seem to think that if we have wingers our problems will be over. What the fvck has Arsenal gotta do with it as everybody keeps saying this league is completely different to the premiership that is why a lot of people are calling for a manager with experience in this division
Jimothy Posted 31 October 2011 Posted 31 October 2011 Arsenal have won 8 of their last 9 matches. Someone please name their wingers, on the basis that somehow people seem to think that if we have wingers our problems will be over. Walcott and Gervinho. They play a 433 and get the width from the wide strikers. Occasionally they'll drift inside, as we saw for van Persie first goal with Gervinho, and occasionally others drift out wide, but the team has width and that has been a major factor in their recent revival.
Heskey2011 Posted 31 October 2011 Posted 31 October 2011 If I was manager here's what I'd do: 1. Get em all together and try to analyse why they didn't feel happy with the formation. 2. Make it clear to them that the least I expected was 100% effort and commitment to the club.. Those that didn't show that would be dropped 3. Make it clear that everyone had a chance of making the first eleven and needed to demonstrate their worth in training 4. Take Neil Danns mobile phone and confiscate it until he scored 5 goals for the club 5. Sign a midfield horrible bloke and make him the skipper 6. Tell Wellens and Beckford that I was in charge and if they had an issue with that I didn't give a fook. 7. Sign a right winger, look for width and make the attackers attack and the defenders defend. 8. Tell peltier he's a smashing full back but I wanted him to concentrate primarily on defending 9. Employ ray Wilkins as my number two 10. Tell kasper to keep giving the defence a bollocking 11. Make the 'foxy chicks' the 'foxy more mature ladies' so I could watch them without feeling guilty 12. Tell mills to stop playing his long balls.. At least not as often. 13. Attack teams with pace, even away from home 14. Move the kop alongside the away fans.. So together with L1 they could at least frighten the opposition to death 15. Bring down the prices on the burgers and chips! Major rip off Can't fink of much else... wouldn't normally but i everthing in this post. esp the foxy chicks - pedo playground innit
topharry123 Posted 31 October 2011 Posted 31 October 2011 we need some width. and considering the damage howard is doing at the moment 4-4-2 schme peltier mills, bamba, knchest gallacher wellens king schlupp nugent howard fernandes on for schlupp at some point in the 2nd half The back 4 is what I would play, and the forward line as well but not the midfield. It's all very well people saying "Howard is an impact sub" but look at the facts Beckford has been awful since he came, and Vassell is out. Why not give big Steve a start, as he made a great impact when he came on on Saturday. You might look at this and say yes he made an IMPACT so let's keep him on the bench and bring him on when we need him, but based on his performance i think he earned himself a start.Over the last year he's not been used too much, but there's no doubt that when he plays he almost always puts in a performance. He may be getting on and may be a little slow, but to me he should be given a chance with the injuries. We know what he can do so let him do it, if it doesn't work out drop him and try something else. It's pretty clear we're not firing well enough with what we have, so Steve would be a welcome start for me. As for the midfield, we just don't seem to have the players to play out wide right now so as someone else said play to our strengths (whatever they may be). I'd like to see a midfield of King, Gallacher, Johnson and Danns setup in whatever way would work. I'm not big on tactics so if someone wants to point out that this wouldn't offer too much one way or another fair enough. I'd stick Wellens to the bench right now but keep him close to the team.
absolutelegend Posted 31 October 2011 Posted 31 October 2011 schme peltier mills, bamba, knchest gallacher wellens king schlupp nugent howard Just had to check it wasn't april 1st
seenitall Posted 31 October 2011 Posted 31 October 2011 Scmeic Peltier Mills Bamba Konchesky Vassell Abe Johnson Fernandes Nugent Beckford Oh and I wouldn't play any of those crappy Sven signings either
artursteppe Posted 31 October 2011 Posted 31 October 2011 Scmeic Peltier Mills Bamba Konchesky Vassell Abe Johnson Fernandes Nugent Beckford Oh and I wouldn't play any of those crappy Sven signings either   Excellent choice - only possible change from me might be Vassell ( maybe Dyer or Danns as options ).
seenitall Posted 31 October 2011 Posted 31 October 2011 Granted its all a bit 4-3 -3 really but non wingers doing wing work don't usually work - maybe we could bring someone else in at RB and play Peltier on the wing?? Just a thought
Lambert09 Posted 31 October 2011 Posted 31 October 2011 if playing the diamond is our strenght then we are fvcked, that was Svens down-fall The diamond is not our strength ......Wellens,King, Fernandes, Johnson and Abe are...they are all centre mids.....we need a way to utilise it, the diamond formation can work, it was Svens aproach that was wrong IMO, getting the players fired up and playing the way we know they all can could make us a very solid team.
Lambert09 Posted 31 October 2011 Posted 31 October 2011 Also as much as he isnt a winger, King played there for Wales against England, suprised that hasnt been attempted more, personally think he would do a better job there than Fernandes
m00nie Posted 31 October 2011 Posted 31 October 2011 well so far we need a squad of about 40, 5 differnt formations, subs to be upped from 5 to 15.. who said this manage malarky was hard..

Agree with 14/15 not sure about Ray square pass Wilkins though. As Manager I would also ad 1. Apart from the tactical nouse I would do some half-time & touchline -motivation/bollocking/shouting when needed. 2. Teach Mills how to pass 3.Tell Vassell his careers over 4. get a bigger, more qualified coaching staff 5. Forget any h/tme so called `entertainment`. I want a beer,a pie, a p*ss, talk about the 1st half, other latest results and what we`re up to tonight. I couldn`t give a s*hit if you can hit a crossbar, going to thailand or raised some more money for charity. 6. get the subs off the pitch at half time and in the bloody dressing room to feel part of it and here what the manager wants 7. Ban any player from leaving the ground until after the match (you listening Beckford) it`s a team game... in it together etc 8. Ask Kapser to do a lecture to all players on someting called `Passion-I want to F**king Win OK!!!` 9. January transfer window get 1-2 wingers who can cross & preferrably with pace 10. Training ground-midfield practice hitting the right ball to the forwards 11. Training ground-remind and teach Knochesky how he use to cross a ball 12. Training ground-Sol Bamba - smack him every time he decides to bloody dribble out of his own pen area. Looks good when it comes off but he`ll look a clown when it doesn`t and it`ll cost us 13. Show Mills a video of Steve Walsh (Obviously not the bits where he gets sent off... a lot) 14. Sit all the players down and show them a video of our history 15. Fill the ground - just as an experiment why not dramatically reduce ALL PRICES.. for a limited period if you like. ST holders, members, everyone. Get out and promote the club again and again, especially in schools.. get em young. I want that ground to be full.

Yeah OK fair point on 5 & 15, just went off at a tangent As for reducing the prices I understand the finances of it all. I just love to see a full stadium and the atmospere it generates. But my wider point is that some of those missing 8-10,000 after coming may become regulars and then spend more on ST and other club stuff. Also if you can attract the kids before they are lured by the so called glamour/media clubs. I`d try anything to fill the ground. The Thais are rich enough even with an empty stadium tba. I just don`t think our ground 2/3 full is good.
