foxoffderby Posted 31 October 2011 Posted 31 October 2011 Davies won't leave his Glasgow home hes a bit like MON in the fact he leaves most of the training to to his staff and is around a few days a week. Im not sure about him the Derby fans don't like him at all and call him Billy Liar, but the majority of Forest fans think hes the best manager they've had since Clough. Having managed both those clubs doesn't sit comfortable with me however he does have a great track record. Hes not my first choice but can see why others like him No, still can't sort my head out with this one gonna have to sit on the fence.
Soar Fox Posted 1 November 2011 Posted 1 November 2011 I'd take Billy Davies as I think he would be able to get us out this divison. Everyone saying he is no good in the premiership need to remember that we're not in the PL yet. Lets worry about that if/when we get there. Do people really think that BD is just sat at home in Scotland when he's not at training? I would imagine he would be studying DVD'S, tactics players etc. Also didn't people say that MON was hardly ever at the training ground during the week, and that he left it upto John Robertson & Steve Walford?
eternal fox Posted 1 November 2011 Posted 1 November 2011 billy davies for me ,most of the other candidates have no experience in this league excluding mon, the rest are just posers, not what we need at this time.
chuck'em Posted 1 November 2011 Posted 1 November 2011 Why do u want a manager that has proved that he isn't good enough to manage any higher than the championship? Surely with the amount being spent, we want a manager who can progress the team after we finally get in to the premier league? Is 14 games really enough to say that he is isn't good enough for the top flight? Would you say that Owen Coyle or Roberto Martinez aren't good enough for that league after their poor starts to the season? Derby would have gone down, no matter who was in charge that season. I'm not Davies biggest fan but if we want to get promoted this season I think he would be the best that is available to us
SpartakAnj Posted 1 November 2011 Posted 1 November 2011 No, a thousand times, no! He is not a long term appointment, how many times has he actually achieved promotion and what happened when he did get promoted? I'm not bothered that he he was at Derby and Forest, I just don't believe he is the right appointment. On top of that he is a bellend of the highest order.

RedHux Posted 1 November 2011 Posted 1 November 2011 Billy Davies would probably get you lot promoted. He'd get your side regimented and organised and difficult to beat. You would be utter dog shit away from home, playing for a draw against everyone. He'd spend money like it was going out of fashion and then not trust the players he's paid so much money for. Ultimately, as fans of all his previous club will tell you. Billy Davies is about brand Billy Davies and not a lot else. He'll inevitably fall out with pretty much everyone and eventually leave under a cloud. ...that said, he'd probably get you promoted.

I'd be delighted to show our next manager the door whilst we're in the PL, rather than to do so whilst we're still stuck at level 2 !! Always feel BD is a little harshly judges as he's never really had a proper crack at PL. You can't really count that feeble effort by Derby as a crack at survival, let alone an attempt to establish themselves.
Babylon Posted 1 November 2011 Posted 1 November 2011 Reminds me very much of the Neil Warnock thread a few years back, "He's s nob head, we don't want him", "I want to like my manager", "He might get you up but he won't keep you up". We ended up with Mr Average Megson and Warnock went to QPR eventually... the rest as they say is history. I don't care if he's not got a record or keeping teams up, if he's an nob head, if he's all about himself, if he's not at training every day (O'Neill was rarely there). I like a winner and he can do it in this league like Warnock could. No guarantees, there never are. But as has been said already it's about playing the percentages.
cc_star Posted 1 November 2011 Posted 1 November 2011 Everything negative said about Davies was said about Warnock Great Championship manager, Preston twice in the playoffs, Derby promoted, Forest promoted tben twice in the playoffs & look at the state of Forest since he was forced out. I'd be happy with him.
Ilkeston_Fox Posted 1 November 2011 Posted 1 November 2011 Not good enough for the trees so never going to be good enough for us. BIG FAT NO He wasn't backed by Nigel Doughty. I work in Nottingham and a high % of the Forest fans would have him back in a heartbeat if he was supported by the owners. Yes he's outspoken, yes he's a grumpy sod when he doesn't get his own way. But he gets the backing of the dressing room, he motivates players. Something which I think our bunch of players needs in order to perform. Just my humble opinion.
