Mack Posted 31 October 2011 Posted 31 October 2011 Time to nail the colours to the mast. Billy Davies is so obviously the best choice for the job in my opinion. Huge experience at the sharp end of this league, he's also been plotting his next tilt at the Championship ever since he's been out of work. I know it's another thread etc etc but I don't understand why more fans are not calling for his appointment. He'll also knock the likes of Beckford into shape.

Because he's a little shite house and if by some miracle he got us in the Prem history shows he could'nt keep us there which would mean yet more upheaval!
Daggers Posted 31 October 2011 Posted 31 October 2011 I know it's another thread etc etc Yes. I pray to the God of Merging that they act swiftly and with due maliciousness.
Buggsteam Posted 31 October 2011 Posted 31 October 2011 Not good enough for the trees so never going to be good enough for us. BIG FAT NO

He knows this league inside out - and if I'm not mistaken he has taken every team he's managed to the playoffs. The fact he managed Forest shouldn't come into it.
SMX11 Posted 31 October 2011 Posted 31 October 2011 Best option for me, wouldn't need much persuading and plays some great football while maintain a solid back line.

MattyFromLE Posted 31 October 2011 Posted 31 October 2011 Really don't want this to happen to be honest. His attitude did my head in when he was at Forest; he's ex Forest etc. Would rather Hughes thank you very much!
Corky Posted 31 October 2011 Posted 31 October 2011 He knows the division, which seems to be the only requirement.
flowwolf Posted 31 October 2011 Posted 31 October 2011 I know the division and your point is ? :dunno:
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 31 October 2011 Posted 31 October 2011 Not good enough for the trees so never going to be good enough for us. BIG FAT NO This
Leicesterpool Posted 31 October 2011 Posted 31 October 2011 We've Got enough scotch managers in are league
Mack Posted 31 October 2011 Author Posted 31 October 2011 Not good enough for the trees so never going to be good enough for us. BIG FAT NO He got screwed by the owner over singings and still got them in the top 6 twice. He must have the best pedigree at getting teams in the top 6 of this league of anyone of late. Yes I know he was Forest and Derby Manager but bollocks to that we need to get up and he has the know how and track record. And I dont understand all the 'He is a horrible bastard' comments. GOOD! A lot of our squad need a horrible bastard to ensure they give their best week in week out.
Babylon Posted 31 October 2011 Posted 31 October 2011 Because he's a little shite house and if by some miracle he got us in the Prem history shows he could'nt keep us there which would mean yet more upheaval! Who would you rather have then? A manager like Clark maybe who has no record of actually doing anything yet, or a manager who managed to take Derby up (very quickly) and got sacked after a dozen games in the premier. Not to mention getting Preston to the playoffstwice and Forest to the playoffs twice. I think out of all his seasons in this league he's finished out of the top six once, and that was taking over forest part way into the season, but he manged to keep them up. I think ruling out a manager because you aren't fond of him, is more idiotic than actually wanting someone with a good record in this division.
Corky Posted 31 October 2011 Posted 31 October 2011 We've Got enough scotch managers in are league We've got three (Mackay, Ferguson and McInnes)
iancognito Posted 31 October 2011 Posted 31 October 2011 To say you don't want someone because they've managed Forest or Derby or both is ridiculous. I made the point elsewhere that it's a good job Forest didn't reject Clough forty years ago because he'd managed Derby. He's a candidate because he's had success at this level and the only reason it went sh!t shaped at Derby was because they gave him precisely £0 to spend when he got them up. Preston, Derby and Forest fans will tell you he's a bloody good manager. Yes, he likes to whinge but better that than someone who doesn't give a toss.
Guest Col city fan Posted 31 October 2011 Posted 31 October 2011 The problem with Davies is I can't see him as a long term option. We need the right man at the helm for some time. Davies may get us in the play offs for sure, then have a hissy fit and bugger off, or be pushed Good short term, bad option long term
teblin Posted 31 October 2011 Posted 31 October 2011 Davies would be a sensible choice. Knows how to get results in this league. forest had one hell of a home record under him. I would be very happy with Davies taking over. He also played for us way before his other east mids connections and would also bring a former city striker as his assistant in Kelly. Not that the former player stuff really matters.

acooling08 Posted 31 October 2011 Posted 31 October 2011 I've been wanting Billy Davies as soon as I realised he was available.

Dave jones has a decent record in this league. But Cardiff under jones dropped down the table after being in very good positions. He also has had big budgets and not got Cardiff promoted.
