Guest Chocolate Teapot Posted 2 December 2011 Posted 2 December 2011 Can I remind those who are doubting him that he's only 20 still got a long way to go, and just had one dodgy season where he didn't get a chance!

Happy Fox Posted 2 December 2011 Posted 2 December 2011 No doubting Waggy is a confidence player and needs game time can we offer him that no at this current moment in time.
mancunianfox Posted 2 December 2011 Posted 2 December 2011 He was Fryatt's back up at Leicester and Fryatt's back up at Hull. How on earth would he expect to get a game here now that we have two better players here than either as well as the means to bring in a big target man if we wanted? I’d be very surprised if he isn’t shipped out to a champion squad with less depth in January.
burni Posted 2 December 2011 Posted 2 December 2011 He did very well before under nigel and didnt really fit in under sven management, Waghorns a good player when nigel gets the best out of him, we shouldnt be in a rush to sell him. Pretty sure pearson said he features in the plans which means nigel thinks hes good enough for us. if hes not he will get rid of him as he can afford to replace him with the backing. Nigel knows he has to get promoted if waghorn stays hes clearlly good enough.
wellyfox Posted 2 December 2011 Posted 2 December 2011 Can I remind those who are doubting him that he's only 20 still got a long way to go, and just had one dodgy season where he didn't get a chance! I don't get this he's only 20 bit. If he is good enough he should be playing. Yes players do learn as they get older but you can judge a level they should get to from the start. Lineker was class from the start and got better Rooney was playing champions league before he was 20 Jack willshire again at the top of the game. Oh and was it not Alan Hanson that said you win nothing with kid's. Them kid's where good enough and you could see it. Waggy is at his level he may play prem football but not well. Do we want players that are just good enough for this league if we are realistic about going up. We should be building a squad to A get us to the prem B keep us in the prem C win a pot D get into europe And I don't think waggy is that good. Time to say thank you and good bye IMO
a_k_b Posted 2 December 2011 Posted 2 December 2011 I think he will struggle to get back into the match day squad if we have all players fit and ready to play. IMO he is last on the list of strikers that we have on the books.
flowwolf Posted 2 December 2011 Posted 2 December 2011 Clearly Pearson thinks he is ok or he would not have had him on loan at Hull. As the season progresses we may need him if only as a sub.I would like to see him in action now that Pearson is his manager again as Nigel always gets the best out of players.

I think there's a lot more to come from Waghorn and that Pearson can get the best out of him I Still think he has a bright future at LCFC

Time to say thank you and good bye IMO What a ridiculous thing to compare Waghorn to Rooney and Wilshire, he is also not as good as Messi or Ronaldo. Look at Heskey was at his best as a youngster and steadily went down hill, or you can look at players like Bobby Zamora Jay Bothroyd, steady progressiona and now winning England caps. Waghorn has the physical attributes to be a top class player, he still needs to develop areas of his game, I am not saying that he is going to be an England Striker one day, but to write him off now as not being good enough is just bizarre. not all great players were wonderkids. Let's wait and see him play, he still needs time to develop and hasn't had that much first team game time at Sunderland, here or Hull, he needs a good run of games and to stay injury free before we can judge him, I just hope he gets the chance here or on loan. He scored 12 goals in our play off year, which is not a bad return, although I am using the OS for this and i am not sure how reliable it is, http://www.lcfc.com/page/Goalscorers/0,,10274~200910274,00.html Fryatt scored more than that didn't he?
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 2 December 2011 Posted 2 December 2011 Waggy Waggy Waggy will come good again with the mighty Foxes under NP guidance
artursteppe Posted 2 December 2011 Posted 2 December 2011 Ok, my view is that Waggy is a bit like SSL, decent enough but not good enough for us long term. Yes of course Nigel could improve him, but he can also improve better players than Waggy. Simple answer, get better players than Waggy and SSL and improve them.

Sorry if that came out wrong but i was not compairing him to rooney I know he's not that good. What I ment was you could see rooney going far as a 17/18 yr old. And yes your correct some never get any better. And I don't see waggy getting any better.
z-layrex Posted 2 December 2011 Posted 2 December 2011 I really respect and like Martyn, but I just don't think he is good enough for the squad we have now.
NewburyFox Posted 2 December 2011 Posted 2 December 2011 I'd take Schlupp over Waghorn. If Pearson prefers Waggy then we might aswell sell Schlupp, he hasn't got a hope of game time apart from the few League Cup games at the start of next season.
seenitall Posted 2 December 2011 Posted 2 December 2011 As usual I read your posts with a sense of trepidation. And again I wasn't dissappointed... Waghorn will contribute to this squad this season in some productive way.. Of that I'm sure. He is not a bad player at all.. I hope he stays and Pearson gets the best out of him. Well we can't always agree can we?! Maybe he will find a way but he always seems to be full of bluster with no real finishing ability - perhaps he would make a better midfielder than an out and out striker - I think Andy King would make a better striker than a midfielder personally, he has a real feel for where the goal is - hey, perhaps we could swap em round?
Captain... Posted 2 December 2011 Posted 2 December 2011 Can we actual watch him play before we write him off, unless those that are saying he is useless are Hull fans. Even then he has only played 5 times for Hull. He didn't play well under Sousa, who did? And barely got a chance under Sven. So judge him after he has actually pulled on the Blue shirt. He was great for us on loan 2 seasons ago full of passion, power and energy, unfortunately he has had very little opportunuity to develop his game since then. I would prefer him on the bench than Howard and I don't think Schlupp has proved himself yet.
