Captain... Posted 9 December 2011 Posted 9 December 2011 I think that we should wait until after January before deciding what to do with Schlupp, we don't know what comings and goings there will be. As it is he is doing nothing at the moment, and Howard ahead of him on the bench shows that bringing through young talent is not a priority, if we sign another striker/forward player in Jan then we really should let him go out on loan at the least. I still don't know why the football league decided to limit subs places to 5 this season, but it is really putting young players like Schlupp at a major disadvantage, as with the joke of a reserve league, which we aren't even a part of, it's almost like we (as a nation) don't want to develop young players.

hackneyfox Posted 9 December 2011 Posted 9 December 2011 Thracian has got it spot on imo. Having aid that I'd sooner see Schlupp on th bench than Howard, one has a potential future, the other doesn't.
Jimmy Posted 9 December 2011 Posted 9 December 2011 he should be on the bench a head of Howard at least
Fox1651 Posted 9 December 2011 Posted 9 December 2011 The kid should go on loan and leave as soon as he can to prevent himself wasting vital time in his development, just as happened to Gradel. Leicester are clearly trying to buy their way into the Premiership and there's no way i believe they'll turn to inexperienced young players to do that. Schlupp's not just competing against the ability of his team-mates, he's competing against their transfer fee, their wages and their name at the very least. I believe our owners have already talked about big name signings. The perception is that "name" players give impact and credibility to everything they're aiming for on and off the field. Schlupp is in the wrong place at the wrong time. Nugent's a biggish name. Beckford's a biggish name and i wouldn't be surprised if we sign at least one other. And I very much doubt if Schlupp will even get the chance to compete with them, realistically. And even if we do win promotion - and that's a very big "if" - we'll then be looking for even bigger name players. Southampton might have the nerve and the policy to bring their club's young players through but 've seen no signs of it here since Holloway arrived. Denied regular games Schlupp won't shine anyway. Some of our fans don't see him as ready and they might be right although God knows where they found the evidence for that. But either way he won't be ready either now or in the forseeable future if he doesn't play. And even if he whacked 10 goals for, say, Charlton in the second half of the season I still don't think he's likely to break into Leicdester's side because Division One goals will mean nothing - they didn't for Gradel - and we will turn to proven experience and someone whose presence can help lure others to the club. If I'm proved wrong about this I apologise. But I won't be. Football is a cynical world which has nothing to do with fairness. Our owners want impact on the pitch, in the media, in the shop and on the back of shirts. Schlupp's an unknown and a risk they don't need to take.. He's best out of it and playing where they have room for him and I just hope the club don't baulk him in that. I don't actually see any young players coming through at Leicester for ages. In fact I don't bother watching em now because we can't watch such reserves football as there is and there's no realistic route to the first team available that I can see. As so often with commercially motivated foreign owners, however good they are and ours have been brilliant in the main, they want success yesterday. And buying it is much quicker than building it. As first Chelsea and now Manchester City have showed. Tend to agree, shame though, up the Schlupp

As first Chelsea and now Manchester City have showed. good post, i agree. All our club seems to do is consume whilst we see many other teams (we would say below us but really are equally as good as us when you consider were only a fairly averagle championship club when you take into acount getting relegated, league one season, play offs, mid table finish) who give players a proper chance meaning they surprise people and shine and get scouted my premiership club and return a fair wack for the club. All we do is generally buy players who should be class or perhaps used to be but generally dont always achieve what they supposidly should be. This sometimes pushes players like JS out, not giving them the full opportunity that would really get them going places. Got to loan the kid out i think, a struggling championship club would be good to see how he can comepete when playing reguarly in this league in a team which will produce less chances than our own?
Christoph Posted 10 December 2011 Posted 10 December 2011 I no the whole "HOWARD GIVES US LIKE A DIFFERENT APPROACH TO GAMES" but I really haven't been that impressed by him at all when he's came off the bench, and I reckon Schlupp would have a much better impact coming on.
Bob Farley Posted 10 December 2011 Posted 10 December 2011 No point loaning him out to a League 1 club. He proved last season at Brentford and this season vs Bury that he's above League 1 quality. If we're going to loan him out then lower Championship is the best bet. A 3 month spell at a club like Palace or Peterborough wouldn't be the worst thing in the world. I thought peterborough is a good shout, high confidence team
