roversred Posted 19 December 2011 Posted 19 December 2011 Not here to take the mick,it's just ive read the pages and pages of comment's about our game on Saturday and thought i would offer a few points on the match and your team from a less angry/biased perspective... Firstly the support, you came up in a good numbers and were certainley loud in the boozer before the game but our ground isn't great for atmosphere as it disperses into the air. Also sometimes you need the opposition fans to get going as well but when you have had the amount of defeats we have had it's hard to get to excited..Overall weve had a lot worse that for sure... Everybody comes here expecting to beat us,after all i admit we are punching a division above our weight and dont have a perverbial pot to wee in,but whilst we wont outplay teams like you,you have to at least outfight us and thats were you lost.Technically you were far superior but when you went 1 up you sort of looked like you felt you hade done enough and just had to saunter through the rest to win. It just showed when you went behind and got at us you created 3 chances you should have scored from,as a fan it annoys me when that happens as it shows just how much a team was coasting... Defence you looked organised apart from our first, the second was just a good goal you cant defend really but i dont think you have to many problems in that area,in fact i thought the left back did great as he was up against 2 for most of the game... Attack,i though Nugent was very good and Beckford certainley gave us many more problems when he came on so again no hassles there really... However Midfield is awful,i think the thing as a Donny fan that spells it out is the fact that every week our midfield gets creamed, its our weakest point and we get overun...And the fact that you didn't says were your problem is..Wellen's was unrecognisable from the player that left us to come to you.Lost his drive, bite sharpness everything that made him such a important player for us.The rest didnt offer much more..... In conclusion i reckon your not to far away, you have the penny's to go out and get a couple of great midfeilders in January and then you will be as good as anybody ive seen down here really.Sometimes you can overreact,Southampton are top of the league and we beat them 2 week ago and they looked awful to be honest. Then we only lost in the 90th minute at Birmingham last week ...We are improving and are not the pushovers we were for 6 weeks ago but i can see why you expect to beat us... I still think you will make the play-offs if you get the right players in January..good luck for the rest of the season
1964FOX Posted 19 December 2011 Posted 19 December 2011 Thanks for your opinion, awe lens has been poor recently and is effected, in my opinion, by Gallacher who came back from injury and had a couple of great games by has got worse and worse as he again now believes he will automatically be picked. If hes dropped he causes problems in the dressing room, astheyare great friends I think Wellens is mirroring Gallacher complacency. Nigel should drop them both for a couple of games, they can both be very good players bt at he moment they need a kick up the arse.

So who do you reckon have been the top 3 fans at the keepmoat this season? I think if Sharp goes then you'll go down, but if he stays you'll stay up. Simples

This sticks out for me. Same attitude against Posh, two weeks ago. Complacency is a massive issue at the moment.
ScouseFox Posted 19 December 2011 Posted 19 December 2011 Shove that up your collective Richie Wellens is God crackpipes guys. Even opposition fans know he's a load of my arse.
cc_star Posted 19 December 2011 Posted 19 December 2011 Pearson has identified that we don't work hard enough (there is a real air of prima-donnas about them in that most players don't believe they have to fight for every ball), the next game will show us what he's done about it... and if the players can step up from the mid-table also rans they've been since Pearson left the 1st time.
roversred Posted 19 December 2011 Author Posted 19 December 2011 Depends if you mean numbers or vocal........Palace didn't bring many but they were very very passionate...Leeds brought loads and were passionate but then again they were dicking us 4-0 on the box.,You brought many but were a tad subdued but it was a poor game...Southampton brought an impressive amout to be fair of the distance as well..... Cant argue with that, however everybody knows 3m gets him so i expect Sharp to leave January...Of course with this fancy loan experiment we are supposed to be getting in Janauary who knows how different the team will look..The one thing that is for sure is that if any player costs money of any description..he wont be coming to Donny... Therefore 2.75million and Wellens and you can have him...:-)...

roversred Posted 19 December 2011 Author Posted 19 December 2011 Also a quick note on Mills...We signed him from Man City for around £175,000 and flogged him to Reading for £2m i think..a good defender but not £5m...And finally what all this handshaking and hugging you do before kick off...One or two certainley didnt seem keen on it.

Jimmy Posted 19 December 2011 Posted 19 December 2011 we haven't paid £5m for Mills, don't believe the red tops
roversred Posted 19 December 2011 Author Posted 19 December 2011 Wellens has to be better than he showed Saturday,he was our most important player and i know a lot of your fans rated him highly after his first few games.Has he dropped of this season or has he been poor for a while????? We would have him back like a shot but then again have you seen our midfield.
Jimmy Posted 19 December 2011 Posted 19 December 2011 How about 2.75m, wellens, gallagher and howard, oh and ball and moreno Gallagher is an old fashioned no 10 more like a Beardsley type player, play him there and he'll do well atm he's too deep and not enough pace to get forward on fast breaks Wellens has to be better than he showed Saturday,he was our most important player and i know a lot of your fans rated him highly after his first few games.Has he dropped of this season or has he been poor for a while????? We would have him back like a shot but then again have you seen our midfield. since about last Feb he's been useless. On a completely unrelated note he signed a contract extension around last February...
roversred Posted 19 December 2011 Author Posted 19 December 2011 How about 2.75m, wellens, gallagher and howard, oh and ball and moreno I would think our chairmen may have a wages issue there, unless they take school dinner tokens that is.

Second thoughts I'd have been happy had we just left wellens on saturday.

roversred Posted 19 December 2011 Author Posted 19 December 2011 we haven't paid £5m for Mills, don't believe the red tops Fair point..just like the journo who reckoned 1.75m would get Sharp in January..The Mirror had him in Southampton negotiating his contract when in reality he was in the hospital with his terminally ill son...Shocking how they get away with some of it to be honest....
roversred Posted 19 December 2011 Author Posted 19 December 2011 I am genueinley shocked about how little regard you have for Wellens...I know he is not the youngest player but he never had pace anyway so i thought he would have some longetivity in him....I would still have him back though...Tell you what we have a cracking midfielder called Simon Gillette we could do a straight swap....go on bite my hand off...:-)

Wellens has been a brilliant signing for us, badly needed a rest for a couple of games last Feb/Mar and hasn't looked the same player since
Jimmy Posted 19 December 2011 Posted 19 December 2011 Wellens has been a brilliant signing for us, badly needed a rest for a couple of games last Feb/Mar and hasn't looked the same player since I know you like him but he's been slightly above average at best, flicks and tricks, which don't always come off, a side he has never been that great for us
roversred Posted 19 December 2011 Author Posted 19 December 2011 I know you like him but he's been slightly above average at best, flicks and tricks, which don't always come off, a side he has never been that great for us I think it's were each teams expectation levels are to be honest..Our budget has always been limited at best so for us he was a stand out player..Your budget and expectation's are on a totally different level to us so you expect a lot more...
Jimmy Posted 19 December 2011 Posted 19 December 2011 I think it's were each teams expectation levels are to be honest..Our budget has always been limited at best so for us he was a stand out player..Your budget and expectation's are on a totally different level to us so you expect a lot more... not really I'd never heard of him before he came here, read reports of his style of play and was optimistic, but he turned out to be a 1 paced arrogant show pony who stands and moans at others when he's the 1 that fecked up. Also he won't pass the ball if its a short quick pass as it doesn't show him off enough. Memo to Richie Wellens you may of been in the same youth set up as Beckham & Scholes but you've never had half their ability so stop trying to play like them. this post sums it up for me I found Wellens's post match comments on RL very concerning. He said that we should be passing the ball sideways in midfield more as we need to shift about defences that get set when surely the problem is that we don't attack at pace enough and consequently are faced with two banks of four that squeeze space and make it difficult to create openings against. The best goal this season so far IMO was the Nugent goal against Derby created by Abe and Fernandes - quick, incisive and direct and the type of play that we hardly ever see tried. If the player in the engine room thinks we don't pass sideways enough it's hard to see the style of play changing whilst he's in the side.

He's only a part timer now. He gets monday's off as training is getting a little hard at 31.
roversred Posted 19 December 2011 Author Posted 19 December 2011 It just goes to show how opinions can differ...When he signed for you he was honest enough to tell our fanzine that he had loved it at Donny but he had never earned big money in his career and owed to his family and this was his last chance to get a big move...He was respected for his honesty..Ive met Richy many times even after he signed for you and he has never had a bad word to say about Leicester City.......However if the lad isnt doing it for you (which judgeing by the overall opinion he isn't) maybe its time he dropped back a level again...How long has he left on his contract?? as i suspect the problem will be who can match what your paying him..????
Jimmy Posted 19 December 2011 Posted 19 December 2011 think he signed a 3 year extension could be wrong though EDIT: signed up until 2014
