Ultra Posted 24 January 2012 Posted 24 January 2012 FIFA do have previous on this though. The 1966 World Cup was held in a country where male homosexuality was illegal at the time.
Captain... Posted 24 January 2012 Posted 24 January 2012 Michael Ball has been fined £6,000 for making homophobic comments and yet the governing body of world football FIFA award the 2022 world cup to Qatar,a country where homosexuality is illegal and punishable by lashes and jail, surely you can't get more homophobic than that! Fair point, I'm sure Blatter would have suggested Cotton and Ball just kissed and made up afterwards, FIFA do have previous on this though. The 1966 World Cup was held in a country where male homosexuality was illegal at the time. Oh my god, what horrible backwards country was that, I hate them... hang on... you say male homosexuality was illegal, so girl on girl action is ok, where is this paradise? Nonsense aside, it is sad to think that the UK was that backwards not that long ago, maybe the awarding of the World Cup may bring Qatar into the 20th century and make them confront their backwards ways. I was in Fiji a few years ago, and homosexuality is illegal there, and it is part of the commonwealth, so there is still along way to go before we live in a free and tolerant world.
THEFATBASTARD Posted 24 January 2012 Posted 24 January 2012 thanks ball, you have made a telling and vital contribution...
Bayfox Posted 24 January 2012 Posted 24 January 2012 reported he's left now, just how much money has sven cost us by signing players we didn't use.

So did you get arrested in Fiji or just fined?
nothin2seehere Posted 24 January 2012 Posted 24 January 2012 Thought he was sacked, not left on his own back.
Captain... Posted 24 January 2012 Posted 24 January 2012 So did you get arrested in Fiji or just fined? They look the other way for tourists, as long as you tone it down when you are in public, the gay couple I met out there did have trouble getting a double room, but that may have been because there was at least a double figure age gap between them and the youngest was still in his teens (they looked like father and son). They did also comment if you are in a country where you get arrested for homosexuality just imagine what those prison showers are like.
