D0 the players oreven management want promotion . he best thing for players and staff job prospect s is to just miss out , Promotion means 6 or 7 being shipped out and the manager sacked if not doing well. QPR is a supreme example. If they had come 4th last year and lost in the play offs they would all still be there. This only applies to teamswith money if you are like Norwich Blackpool or Swansea you are expected to come straight down so you canplay attacking football hope to stay up with the sam players and the manager wont get sacked if you get relegated Another myth ishow difficult the championship is . Why is it the only league where the promoted teams are likely to be in the top 6 wheras in Premier and 1 the promoted teams nearly always struggle.

A lovely theory which bears no close scrutiny.

1. The players get paid win lose or draw (slightly more for a win).

2. Promotion will, in many cases, result in a slight pay increase.

3. It's not that easy to sell on a player who doesn't want to leave (see Moreno, Winston Bogarde etc)

Yes? Whether they want to win it as much as some of the other teams/players/managers is debatable, but I can't believe for one moment that there is a single person out there who does not want to win.

I always want to win, even when I'm playing monopoly! I'm sure winning the football championship comes close to that.

Sorry but that is a load of cr@p, everyone in footballs dream is to be in the Premier league. No team is going to aim to miss out on promotion, surely the whole point of being a team is to be the best you possibly can. Even if you do get promoted, careful spending, having a good structure in place can do wonders for a club.

A bit flawed that. The stock of both players and manager goes up with promotion. They don't have to stay with their promoted club if they think it's a hopeless case.

Agree with you about the myth of The Championship. Nothing I've seen suggests it's an especially difficult league to get out of. A lot of defenders seem to struggle for pace, the passing and moving is indifferent at best and some of the finishing worse than appalling...as we saw plainly enough on Saturday just by way of example.

Fitness levels are nothing special and there's a general shortage of people with the individual ability to stand out.. If Beckford sets the standard in representing £35,000 a week's worth of former Premiership footballer then there's not a lot to be afraid of and so many players are in the Championship because they're not good enough for anything better. .

Why does everyone think the problem with moving players on is the player.

Most of our dross would go tomoz I would think so they can get games.

But we over pay them and clubs that can afford the wages can afford better players.

We can't get rid cos no fvcker wants em on what we pay them.

Most of our 'dross' as you call them play.

We're hardly fending off offers from clubs for any players. In fact I can hardly think of the last time a club (other than one run by Pearson) came in for one of our players.

Good post; I've not seen any good sides this season apart from Southampton in the second half at the King Power. Last season was the same. QPR were functional, Norwich riding momentum (which, to be fair, seems to be going a long way!) and nicking late goals, with Swansea the best side I saw by some distance.

You can get out of the way with either a strong, functional side or a half-decent one. For the £10 million spent in the summer, and with the players at our disposal, we should be able to put out one or the other.
