broughtonblue Posted 16 January 2012 Posted 16 January 2012 Got friends in Brighton so will be staying the night with them after the match, I'm going with my teenage lad, our friends are Brighton supporters. As parking is apparently crap at the Amex my mate has reserved 2 seats for us on the coach that takes home fans to the Amex from around the hove area, should I accept or am I asking for trouble?
1964FOX Posted 16 January 2012 Posted 16 January 2012 I would accept, as long as yo are with people you know you shuld be ok.
beemeroo Posted 16 January 2012 Posted 16 January 2012 Unless you're planning on wearing colours and singing Leicester songs I can't really see the issue.
broughtonblue Posted 16 January 2012 Author Posted 16 January 2012 Unless you're planning on wearing colours and singing Leicester songs I can't really see the issue. Will have my Leicester shirt and scarf with me (might keep them in a bag tho till I get to the ground!)
Houdini Logic Posted 16 January 2012 Posted 16 January 2012 The worst you'll get is a bitchy look and a head flick
1964FOX Posted 16 January 2012 Posted 16 January 2012 Will have my Leicester shirt and scarf with me (might keep them in a bag tho till I get to the ground!) I was invited into a Pompey home pub this season and wore my shirt, everyone was fine about it, things have changed.

I am Rod Hull Posted 16 January 2012 Posted 16 January 2012 The worst you'll get is a bitchy look and a head flick
paddy Agyemang Posted 16 January 2012 Posted 16 January 2012 It's the same as going on a train with forest fans to Barnsley, just keep ur mouth shut and don't wear our colours until you get off the bus
broughtonblue Posted 16 January 2012 Author Posted 16 January 2012 Accept, i live in the hove area and wear city tops all the time, not a hint of trouble Do you know if the parking is as bad as I'm told?
Guesty Posted 16 January 2012 Posted 16 January 2012 Things have changed but then every now and again you run into some clown who hasn't.
Walker Posted 16 January 2012 Posted 16 January 2012 Did Brighton FC ever have a hooligan element about it?! Just couldn't imagine it!
whoareyaaa Posted 16 January 2012 Posted 16 January 2012 Did Brighton FC ever have a hooligan element about it?! Just couldn't imagine it! yea I think they are still going now something along the lines of ArseRapers
BMR Posted 16 January 2012 Posted 16 January 2012 Do you know if the parking is as bad as I'm told? Yes its pretty bad, but loads of places to park in town, and loads of city fans get the local busses to and from the game
Head Honcho Posted 16 January 2012 Posted 16 January 2012 The worst you'll get is a bitchy look and a head flick
Head Honcho Posted 16 January 2012 Posted 16 January 2012 Did Brighton FC ever have a hooligan element about it?! Just couldn't imagine it! Yeh Brighton used to have a decent mob.
Burbage Fox Posted 17 January 2012 Posted 17 January 2012 Do you know if the parking is as bad as I'm told? Yes its bad the ground is on the outskirts really close to the University and they use some of the uni for parking and I have a mate whose daughter is at uni there and he told me that she reckons its a nightmare on matchdays trying to get away from the ground.
whitlock Posted 17 January 2012 Posted 17 January 2012 You seemed concerned as if we're going to win and you need to contain yourself?
1964FOX Posted 17 January 2012 Posted 17 January 2012 Did Brighton FC ever have a hooligan element about it?! Just couldn't imagine it! Yes they were called the Mods and Rockers crew
zigga-zagga Posted 17 January 2012 Posted 17 January 2012 When Forest were down there a few weeks ago there was no trouble. Is it not a better idea to catch the train from Brighton station? It takes less than 10 minutes - all the Forest fans who went into town simply got onto a train although there is a hell of a queue to catch the train back to the Amex at around 2.20. No problems with their fans though.
broughtonblue Posted 24 January 2012 Author Posted 24 January 2012 Yes its pretty bad, but loads of places to park in town, and loads of city fans get the local busses to and from the game I've been told there is a station, (Falmer!) near the ground, is it poss to get the train from the southwick area? There are three of us going now so not enough seats on the bus!
allotment-fox Posted 1 February 2012 Posted 1 February 2012 Got friends in Brighton so will be staying the night with them after the match, I'm going with my teenage lad, our friends are Brighton supporters. As parking is apparently crap at the Amex my mate has reserved 2 seats for us on the coach that takes home fans to the Amex from around the hove area, should I accept or am I asking for trouble? From an old stagier you need to think it through very carefully 1) if you reveal your true allegiances on the bus on the outward journey and city lose you will have the piss take on the return coach. If City win you may pray they let you on the coach if they do will you be getting off in one piece 2) keep cake-hole closed / pray for a draw I'm also going to Brighton this weekend with my two young nephews and have made some enquires regarding transport to the ground on reading the away fans guide on line put the shivers up me when a Notts Forest fan wrote a bad report of queues for hours for trains to and from the ground. however since then the train service has been vastly improved with longer trains and more frequent services between Brighton - Falmer - Lewes but try not to leave it to late from Brighton Station say no later than 2-15 or if your parking at Lewes to catch the train same would 2-25 at latest it's less then ten minutes on the train from both Lewes & Brighton My plans are travelling by train from Leicester to Brighton via London Victoria then pie / pint at Brighton then train to Falmer some train times are :- dep Brighton 1252 - 1302- 1310-1322-1340 on return Felmer station pick the smallest queue can either return changing at Lewes or Brighton for Lewes with connection for London is 1701 - 1710-1720 1732-1737 -1750 - trains similar sort of times back in Brighton Direction railway staff and transport police do a good job at stations sorting out the queues apparently we will see hope this helps PS yes there is undersoil heating at Amex not sure it's been tested and one pub in village of Falmer but have to show your ticket for home end ! as bouncers on the door.
