BarnsleyFan Posted 17 January 2012 Posted 17 January 2012 First of all, thanks for the 3 points. 4 points for the season, that should have been 6 but we won't complain too much. I've been looking at this forum over the last few days and read that you seemed to have targeted your right back peltier and centre back Mattew Mills. I've only watched you a few times this season (when you've been on sky bbc and at oakwell/king power) but i think thats quite harsh. On saturday your right back got no cover. Not many full backs would fancy going against him one on one. He can go both ways and when he goes on to that right foot he gets the shots away with power and they move a lot. I think more blame should go towards your team and you should work on your team shape more when defending. Defend from front, 2 banks for 4 ect. Also at times your pass choices are shocking and you go for risky passes which can be closed down and picked which meant your full backs where way out of position and it was really nothing they could do to help because they had to get forward and create width. My view on matt mills are that he's a very good centre back. looks very good on the ball. control ect. Just a point to the you fans. Getting on the teams back doesn't help. It actually helps the other team. It shows them that it's working what they are doing.
1964FOX Posted 17 January 2012 Posted 17 January 2012 So you are saying our midfield is to blame, not supporting the back four when we are being attacked and making bad or misjudged passes when going forward. That's why we want new midfield I think.
ithuriel Posted 17 January 2012 Posted 17 January 2012 Poeple had a go at Pelts because normally he is better than that, Mills on the other hand has a hefty price tag hanging around his shoulders that he has never lived up to. The price tag attached to him is not his fault but he get's a lot of stick because of it. The booing came from sheer frustration, not by me i might add, because all season bar a few games we have had shoddy passing and decision making from a team that has had a good deal of money spent on it for this division. The crowd at the end of the day turned around to the poeple in charge and have shown they no longer have confidence in these players and that thing's need to change.
Corky Posted 17 January 2012 Posted 17 January 2012 .Just a point to the you fans. Getting on the teams back doesn't help. It actually helps the other team. It shows them that it's working what they are doing. As was evident when we went to Oakwell last season, and a fair number of your fans slated Robins during the match.
jonlcfc1990 Posted 17 January 2012 Posted 17 January 2012 So now everyone knows we need a new midfield and shape. Lets hope NP does
Raj Posted 17 January 2012 Posted 17 January 2012 Normally we wouldnt be so vocal at a loss like Sat. Our current position in the table too wouldnt alarm us that much as we are used to it. However as evryone reminds us the $$$$$ we've spent has given everyone unrealistic hopes of promotion before the season started. Add to that lots of signings and folk got drawn in by it all.......all we need is a team.....not a squad!!

Guest ttfn Posted 17 January 2012 Posted 17 January 2012 I stopped reading when I read that Matt Mills was "good on the ball". I dont think Matt Mills' mum thinks he's good on the ball.
BarnsleyFan Posted 17 January 2012 Author Posted 17 January 2012 He looked quite good to me. in the second half he was controlling it well and passing it fine. Secondly, losing to barnsley. Why is that so bad. We've beat reading, Peterborough and leeds away from home this season. Unlucky not to beat Birmingham aswell. Only been properly beat by Cardiff 5-2/3. You can spend another 20 million if you want. It's not going to make you work hard. That comes with respect and a want to try hard for others. You need a david perkins type player. Barnsley got him for free and he's probably earning 150/200k a year. Never played at this level before. But he works hard and never gives up. Have you got any comments about the barnsley team?
ithuriel Posted 17 January 2012 Posted 17 January 2012 The number 11 looked good, worked hard, was all over the pitch in a good way. VazTe or however you spell it was ok but rightly booked for diving.
BarnsleyFan Posted 17 January 2012 Author Posted 17 January 2012 Number 11, david perkins. Until 06 he played in non league. 29 year old. Vaz te might have dived but you put some nasty tackles in at times. I forgot to say. Your keep is very good.
Burbage Fox Posted 17 January 2012 Posted 17 January 2012 So even Barnsley fans can see that we need a new midfield and that they dont work hard enough in breaking forward or providing cover, they choose the wrong passes and are generally crap On Barnsley.. I think Keith Hill has done a great job, you deserved the win, your midfield combines well with defence and attack as it shoud do, you had a game plan, attacked with pace, worked hard and dont take it to heart that we think we should beat you at home, but we should. As for the booing its just that we have watched terrible home performances all season ( well mostly) but the last 3 against you, Pompey and Ipswich have been so frustrating that I think it was just a build up... especially as we had our hope built up so much pre season.. to say this season has been a massive disappointment is an understatement, although I did not boo during the game, I have to admit I did at the end.. shameful I know but frustrated. Good luck to you, you deserved your win but I hope this is a tipping point in our season.
Kitchandro Posted 17 January 2012 Posted 17 January 2012 I stopped reading when I read that Matt Mills was "good on the ball". I dont think Matt Mills' mum thinks he's good on the ball. same. He did set up the goal and now and then one of his long balls come off and look brilliant passes. But most of the time he's just gifting the ball to the opposition. Defensively he's hit and miss for me, he can be very solid but he makes some comedic errors, sometimes you can just tell he's going to have a shocker from early on, and his discipline issues have cost us more than once. A captain needs a cooler head. He's not been shocking but average, which isn't good enough for £4-5m. It's very fair to say the midfield doesn't cover for the defence. They rarely get back to help and we're often outnumbered. We may need a holding midfielder but in any case they should be working harder to get back. Especially when they are having no positive effect at the other end. Having said that, Peltier was poor again on Saturday, his recent form has been shocking. He suffers from a lack of confidence more than most IMO, it is very obvious. Some fair points though, our midfield is generally poor and long story short we need a new one. Our fans are sick to the bad teeth of false dawns, underperforming and being let down by the players. Saturday was a culmination of it all, all the shite and obvious lack of progress on the pitch, season after season of not having a team to be proud of. That performance summed it all up, there is a lack of passion and belief throughout the club, that includes the fans and team. I don't agree with booing during the match at all and you're right it doesn't help, but our team has humiliated us this season and people are right to be very upset.
BarnsleyFan Posted 17 January 2012 Author Posted 17 January 2012 Im not saying don't boo and barnsley fans don't do that because some do. All i'm saying was it helped us i think. Your a good group of players but not a good team. I was amazed at how much space there was between defence and midfield. If butterfield played he would have ripped you apart because he plays attacking midfield and would have turned and ran then shot with andy gray and vaz te running in at your keeper.
BarnsleyFan Posted 17 January 2012 Author Posted 17 January 2012 He wouldn't have left man city when he did if Sven didn't get the sack. It was only the change in manager that allowed Doncaster to get him.

Yes, you pissed all over us and thoroughly deserved the win. I knew it would be hard for us when I heard you had lost 5 of your last 6, we always seem to be the whipping boys for teams on a bad run!
