chili_con_carne Posted 30 January 2012 Posted 30 January 2012 With us signing another centre back and no wingers yet is Pearson perhaps thinking of playing the formation that played first half v palace more often? just a thought.
Christoph Posted 30 January 2012 Posted 30 January 2012 Could be possible, could also be possible that he may stick St Ledger at right back and push peltier further. I dont mind the whole 5-3-2/3-5-2 formation but you don't see many teams pulling it off successfully on a regular basis.
chili_con_carne Posted 30 January 2012 Author Posted 30 January 2012 Bamba, mills and Morgan as a back three would be epic. ---------------------------kasper -------------bamba-------mills---------Morgan Peltier-----------------------------------------------konch ----------------------------wellens --------------drinkwater-----------------danns ----------------------------------------Nuge ------------------beckford

Lcfcman2010 Posted 30 January 2012 Posted 30 January 2012 I like the idea of the 3 CB but I'd personally like to see it as follows ---------------------------kasper -------------SSL-------mills---------Morgan Peltier-----------------------------------------------konch ----------------------------Bamba --------------drinkwater-----------------danns ----------------------------------------Nuge ------------------beckford I dont think Morgan can just walk straight in to this though. When bamba's back a 4-1-3-2 is on the cards too. Kasper Peltier SSL Mills Konch Bamba Drinkwater Danns Dyer Nugent Beckford
cc_star Posted 30 January 2012 Posted 30 January 2012 No, NP is a 442 man and he's not into changing things just to accommodate an ego who thinks they should be in the team & not on the bench. As to how he keeps 4 first-teamers happy with 2 positions... I don't know, but he's paid handsomely enough for that to be part of his job.

We played a 4-3-3 in our play-off season.
Fox92 Posted 30 January 2012 Posted 30 January 2012 you would bring morgan straight in at the expense of st ledger??? Exactly what I thought. What is it with people and Bamba? He isn't as good as St Ledger.

But it's ok to give a 31 yr old an extra day off each week cos he's tired. Praps he should move closer to the club. Oh and that ego that everyone is now starting to rave about that was praps right he should be playing. And yes only 3 games but a more stable looking defence than when Bamba is playing. Even NP can get it wrong.
marbelladave Posted 30 January 2012 Posted 30 January 2012 He likes the 4-3-3 as well though does he not? We played a 4-3-3 in our play-off season. We started the season 4-4-2 but King and Wellens got routinely overun in central midfield. So we played Oakley 'narrow right', so he could help them out........ This left us unbalanced so we switched to 4-3-3 for a handful of games before NFP's conservative instincts kicked in and we went 4-5-1 for the rest of the season. Though to be fair, Fryatts injury did not help......... Still not resolved this issue, desperately need a strong presence in central midfield, still.....
Blueforever Posted 30 January 2012 Posted 30 January 2012 I really don't want see 5-3-2 being more solid an option than 4-4-2 with SSL and Mills in the centre. Defenders don't like playing three centre backs and to often get pulled out of position or go for the same ball. Maybe he's thinking push one of the centre backs as a holding midfielder in a 4-5-1 formation but I don't see who could play that role succesfuly regularly, maybe Bamba or Pelts.
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 30 January 2012 Posted 30 January 2012 Exactly what I thought. What is it with people and Bamba? He isn't as good as St Ledger. I for once disagree with you mate. I'm not one of these people who really rate Bamba and never stop goiing on about how good he is, etc, but I prefer him to SSL. Not sayin SSL is bad, but he has played in just the last three games. One against a team who cant score, and the other against a League 2 team. Yes though he played very well at Southampton a very good team. But three games doesnt mean much to me. I didnt rate him before he came here, and now I just think he is alright. Just prefer Bamba, think he is better on the ball and always does well under pressure. Over the course of the season, Bamba has played better than SSL in my view. However, currently SSL deserves to keep his place when Bamba comes back, you shouldnt change a team thats performing well. All opinions really.
