Lee Peltier believes becoming a father for the first time could bring out even more from him for Leicester City.

The defender has experienced an amazing week on and off the pitch.

Three days after City booked their place in the FA Cup quarter-finals and edged to one game from a Wembley appearance by beating Norwich City, Peltier's partner Gabrielle gave birth to their daughter Sofia on Tuesday.

Then, on Thursday night, Peltier and City picked up another impressive win at Derby County to keep alive their Championship play-off hopes.

Peltier said having Sofia to care for gives him something else to play for.

"It has been a great week but a long week," said the 25-year-old. "It has changed my life having a little girl now. I am buzzing.

"It won't change my approach to football. That is my living and it is what I do. But I am going out and playing for her now as well and it could bring a lot more out of me."

Neil Danns marked his winner against the Rams at Pride Park with a baby celebration just for Peltier and the City right-back admitted he was touched by the gesture.

"Danns did that for me and it was nice of him," he said.

"Sofia is back home now so I am in for a few sleepless nights. She was born two weeks early but everything went fine. It changes things massively for me now."

Danns said the victory over Derby was thoroughly deserved and kept alive City's chances of breaking into the top six.

He said: "We know what this league is like. We have said it again and again, but it keeps doing the same thing. We are still not too far away from it and, if we put a good run together, I am sure we will be in the mix.

"We had a few opportunities to go two or three up but we didn't take them.

"I felt that we controlled the game. They very rarely had too much to offer as a threat. We are pleased with the performance and the result.

"We dominated, which is tough, and it shows how well the lads are doing."

Congratulations
