i would hardly say those coming down are weak, and why all of a sudden are we nailed on for play offs?? we can hardly string a couple of wins together let alone storm a league..

Agreed, were about as nailed on as a fallen picture

Surely though we are better than a lot of the league, even now.....let alone before Pearson hopefully strenghtens and modifies the squad over the summer to sharpen the appetite for a promotion push next season.........should this one go down as a big fail with a decent cup run thrown in ! Although he inherited 50% of this squad from Sven (another disadvatageous factor for us this season), at least can start from scratch in July - a luxury he wasn't afforded last summer of course. This season (to date), I know we've had some abysmal results against teams further down the league but we've done the double over the league leaders (!), beat Cardiff, Blackpool and Brighton at home and gained a point at the team in the last play off spot yesterday, albeit a frustrating one! I suppose people will say the epitaph of this season (should we not even make the play offs) will be "we were a poor team" .....as we cannot beat the teams below half way. This presumably makes us a poor team (collectively) who just so happen to raise their game against better opposition?

As for Wolves. Wigan or whoever else joins the Championship fray next season, sure they will have parachute payments to strengthen their teams but they will have the burden and psychologically negative effect of relegation to contend with too - and would anybody say Wolves or Wigan have a better squad than ours. Nowhere near as good I would say! We gave Chelsea a game last Sunday, Wolves or Wigan would've porbably lost it 5-0!

were better than the 12 teams below us, but thats it.. still makes us currently mid table, and others can add to there squads the same as we can.

which sven players that he inheritied then are a problem ??

chelsea scored 5 against us, with a 2nd team, and hardly got out of 1st gear. so not really a game to try and compare us against wolves/ wigan with.. QPR came back from 2.0 down to beat liverpool last night so shows them teams you mentioned can do the business..

QPR have been pretty poor in recent games though (although I know they've had some bad decisions go against them in that recent game against Bolton). Wolves have been the whipping boys in recent weeks (was it 24 consecutieve passes from Spurs that went unchallenged before they scored??!) in the Prem. while we've all seen how many Wigan have let in against cetain opposition. Many will argue that we beat a second string Norwich team and lost heavily to a Chelsea team of similar less than usual standing but I think the fact that we were the last surviving Championship team in the FA Cup quarters (and we gave a reasonable account of ourselves against a top Prem. team) says more about how we are as a team than our current league position would lead you to believe. Still 10 games left to play lest we forget........not one game!

A couple of people now have mentioned QPR as an example of a team in the prem that we're on a par with or better than. Could those of you putting that opinion forward please explain this to me? If they come back down then they're nailed on to go right back up.

Delusions of grandeur springs to mind when reading some of what's being wrote in here.

How can some people honestly think we have a better squad than Bolton,Wigan,Wolves,Qpr??

We can hardly string 2 wins together, we're conceding 2/3 goals when we play away. The only thing we're constant at is being inconsistent.
