OzFox Posted 24 April 2012 Posted 24 April 2012 How very odd, this topic was locked last night?... but is open again now i assume the mods thought they were locking down the prisoners for the evening? Think we got booted out of general chat for talking about sport. Blatant racism I reckon. Might as well make this the official A League thread. Quite looking forward to next season now, even though it is six months away. Perth v Brisbane should be interesting...to see how long it takes for Berisha to get kicked up in the air Good to see the A League getting so much coverage as well, even if most of it is negative. 365 comments on the world game website last time I looked

Credit to Jacob Burns and the Glory players/officials, theyve accepted the decision and moved on. Victory have no shame (clearly as doesnt ROOmanurefanFOX) and they are just splashing the cash again, hehe worked well for them this year

The nurse told him that Harry K had the same op done there. Hopefully they've done a better job on my colleague Shouldn't laugh though. Sydney weren't much better
OzFox Posted 21 October 2012 Posted 21 October 2012 Best atmosphere I've heard at an A league match (in Sydney at any rate). Hope they keep coming http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UDU3F2Ydlxs And good to see Heskey get on the scoresheet again for the Jets

Yeah, I think a lot of people are relieved to have a team to follow in western sydney. It's a big urban sprawl with a large population and they haven't really had fierce local rivalries since the old NSL (national soccer league) got disbanded in 2004
OzFox Posted 3 November 2012 Posted 3 November 2012 Kalac has been in the news lately. Arguing with Del Piero, training ground spats and now Sydney lose 7-2 (he's the goalkeeping coach) On the field, it was another good day for Sydney FC as they earned a 2-1 win over Perth, with star players Alessandro Del Piero and Brett Emerton getting the goals. The Italian was not happy with the performance however, and he made his feelings perfectly clear in a heated exchange with goalkeeping coach Zeljko Kalac after the game. Never far from incidents of hilarity, Kalac (you might remember him spilling a regulation free-kick into his own net against Croatia in the 2006 World Cup) was at it again at training the next day, getting into a spat with Dimitri Petratos. The former AC Milan keeper was taking part in a training exercise and failed to pass the ball to his young team-mate, which led to the following colourful exchange: Petratos: **** me dead! Kalac: Shut the **** up and keep playing! If I hear from you again, I’ll break your jaw. Lovely stuff. Needless to say, manager Ian Crook brought out the usual platitudes about “passion†and “heartâ€, but it is clear that Sydney’s playing style is still causing some frustration within the ranks.
OzFox Posted 3 November 2012 Posted 3 November 2012 I'm watching Perth - Newcastle - it's alright! You sound surprised The standard has gone up the last couple of years
OzFox Posted 3 November 2012 Posted 3 November 2012 Sydney lost 7-2. It's been coming for a while. Del Piero wasn't playing tonight...probably booking his flight back to Italy
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 4 November 2012 Posted 4 November 2012 Victory play tonight with a public holiday tomorrow, were overdue a win and hopefully the crowd is decent and gets us over the line.
ozleicester Posted 5 November 2012 Author Posted 5 November 2012 "Perth Glory defeated Emile Heskey's Newcastle Jets" ... is how Sat nights game was reported in the Sunday Perth news... This seasons A league is ALL about DelPiero and Heskey! cracking game with a 85th minute winner for the Glory. Comfortably in 3rd spot and looking good Heskey had a fair game... but nothing spectacular. The NIB stadium is still undergoing rebuild.. so only fit 10,000 in there at the moment oh hadnt seen this site before, not sure what its like - http://www.thefootballsack.com/
OzFox Posted 5 November 2012 Posted 5 November 2012 oh hadnt seen this site before, not sure what its like - http://www.thefootballsack.com/ Interesting article about the high crowd figures on there, and whether it's going to last. 35,000 for the first game in Sydney, but I bet they won't get close to that when they play Victory next week. Sydney fans never turn up if it's a) raining b) the team is losing. The forecast is wet and they're coming off a 7-2 defeat
OzFox Posted 10 November 2012 Posted 10 November 2012 Heskey strikes again. That's five goals in six games.
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 11 November 2012 Posted 11 November 2012 I was in Newcastle over the weekend and was chatting to some season ticket holders of the jets, they didn't have a bad thing to say about Heskey and nor should they he is scoring and the jets are winning.
ACF Posted 11 November 2012 Posted 11 November 2012 Next Heart home game is against Newcastle. To say I'm excited is an understatement.
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 11 November 2012 Posted 11 November 2012 Next Heart home game is against Newcastle. To say I'm excited is an understatement. Bet Heskey can't wait to play in front of a couple hundred fans.

OzFox Posted 12 November 2012 Posted 12 November 2012 Good old Spider. Declared bankrupt in August and owes half a million bucks to bookies. He acts like a complete thug. If it ever gets out his career as a pundit will be toast

OzFox Posted 12 November 2012 Posted 12 November 2012 Video.... or it didnt happen Can't put it up unfortunately...made a promise and I don't want to get anyone in trouble. It's a good bit of training ground handbags...Kalac balloons a ball over the bar, gets some lip from one of the younger players for not passing then bawls him out and threatens to break his jaw. What's funny is he's at least a foot taller than the player.
OzFox Posted 12 November 2012 Posted 12 November 2012 Cracking game at Sydney the other night. Victory fans were going bonkers. Noticed they were cordoned off like they do with away fans at English grounds. Not sure I've seen that before. Then there was a punch up in the Sydney end...probably Spider cutting loose

Was a cracking game and gutted i missed it was going to go with a mate but had birthday in Newcastle. Saw all the players at the airport on friday and was tempted to change my flight and head to Sydney. It was just more evidence that Victory have the best fans look from 4 minutes on the crowd goes nuts. Oh and it's not the first time we've come back from 2nil to beat Sydney 3-2 but it wasn't as dramatic as scoring 3 in 12 minutes. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oDKrkyuJQOI&feature=player_embedded My fav part of the highlights at 4:46 Is the guy getting evicted and Finkler patting him on the head

Always seems to be lively when we play Victory Sydney are rubbish this year. The players they've bought are nowhere near as good as the players they got rid of, although if Culina gets fit things might improve. Even Del Piero was ordinary on saturday...he kept giving the ball away
