What a game!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hWmNGs3sU3c

Schoolboy defending, though.

I'm front row right in front of the STH END sign on the fence. Almost got booted after security saw me launch my beer 20m in the air when we scored our first. Not the best game but great win, even better seeing Eugiene our ex keeper (reserve keeper) give up a couple of easy goals after he was giving it to us before half time.

William Gallas  lol

Think Perth might have got ripped off on their 'marquee' player

Edit: they should have gone for someone with pedigree like Kisnorbo. He's having a blinder this afternoon

Most disappointing "marquee" player ever. lol

this might be interesting..

Instead we picked up Paulo Conterras who loves getting a card.

And is generally rubbish, can't believe you guys picked him instead of Finkler for ACL!

I think my boys Manchester Heart will beat you this week, but half expecting Rogic and Archie to have a blinder. Worried about LB now that Aziz is out...

Yeah that will be interesting. I hope the A League teams take it seriously and don't put out half strength sides like they do in England.

I went to the Sydney v Perth game last week. Gallas did ok, although nothing special. It's always interesting to see how many Perth fans make the trip....about 30 this time. Fair play to them.

Distance-wise, it must be a real bummer and pricey trying to get away trips going in Aussieland.

Is there anything the clubs are doing/could do as some sort of incentive to encourage more of their own fans to travel to away games? Charter flights maybe?

People living in Perth, for instance, are probably the ones most hard done by. lol

Western Sydney Wanderers have been taking quite big numbers to away games. They're vocal too. Not sure how many would travel as far as Perth though

Melbourne Victory usually have a good turn out when they play in Sydney. Probably around 1000 or so

I've been to a few and yes it gets expensive. Normally means trying to get a few mates together and making a weekend of it. There is 6 or 7 of us that do Adelaide each year we play on a Friday night so it means flying over on a Friday and back on a Monday taking 2 days off work.

Also did Wellington last season which we turned in to a 10 day trip.

Perth games usually have a total of 30 away fans, made up almost entirely of people who are now living here and our away support is the same, although with the cheap flights of recent years ($150 each way to Sydney, thats cheap to aussies, sadly none of this 7 pound business) we have seen a few going over.

its a bit hard to get a real us and them situation when there is 10,000 of us.. and 30 of them, not to mention that they are wayyyyy over in the corner away from "The Shed", wait, ill suggest that we move the shed :)

WSW fans seem quality

Yes, yes we are... :-)

Except last week,   but this weeks game will be huge....

The last WSW away game v Sydney FC - looked like this.

Driven a couple of times for AFL and it's about 10 hours from my joint. Not much fun to drive.

This Sydney derby has a bit too it, cracking atmosphere too.

Yep. Awesome atmosphere tonight. Just gets better and better with every derby. Never thought I'd see scenes like that at Sydney to be honest.

Poor standard of football though. Both teams struggled to string two passes together, and some of those defensive clangers...Jesus wept :)

Here's another video from the same game. Love this chant, and I'm saying that as a Sydney FC fan :)

Great night, great atmosphere, poor result.. for WSW. anyways... :-)

over 40,000 fans at football game in Sydney... brilliant... apart from trying to get out of there....

It sort of makes me wish Melbourne Heart had a few more fans. We have had derbys of over 40k but 80% of them are our fans.

Wanderers fans are a credit to the A League. I haven't seen that level of support anywhere, even in England. They're going to need a bigger stadium than Parramatta at this rate

Really? That might change with the Man City effect

There's plans in place for an upgrade. Adding 5000 seats for next season taking capacity to 26000 with a further upgrade to 32 to 35000 in the pipeline.

With memberships full at 16000 and only 4000 tickets to the public, the stadium is sold out for every game. Unfortunately a lot of members don't turn up and attendances are usually well under the 21000 capacity.

Will be interesting to see if the interest is still there if they have a poor season.. sorta like what is happening now.. :-)

Want bother me, I'm a foxes supporter, we've suffered many a poor season.. :-)

With the dramas after Saturdays game still ongoing, its going to be an interesting few weeks in the Wanderers camp...

I've got to get myself to an away game at WSW. I've even offered to drive but all my mates who go to the football are either to poor or too loved up for a weekend away for the football, which normally limits us to our regular Adelaide away trip.
