OzFox Posted 5 June 2013 Posted 5 June 2013 Sheffield United chief executive Julian Winter said he was "flabbergasted" by recent comments made about the club by Graham Arnold. "Forget that the financial offer in itself was quite poor, but I would have been taking three steps backwards in my development as a professional coach if I had gone," Arnold said. "I walked out of that meeting with the club's board and football director Dave Bassett, and said 'Wow'. It just blew me away. "Being one of the bigger lower league clubs, I was expecting a lot more in terms of how they wanted to develop as a club on the field. "But they just didn't seem interested when I was talking about playing a short passing game and taking the football another level up. It was about smashing the ball long and working on set-pieces ... it was prehistoric stuff." http://theworldgame.sbs.com.au/a-league/news/1154789/Blades-flabbergasted-by-Arnold-spray
ozleicester Posted 5 June 2013 Author Posted 5 June 2013 Pitym i wouldve liked to see GA in the league and see how he actually measures up? Interesting WC qualifier last night. enjoyed watching it and the Japanese crowd sounded awesome, Where was Yuki?? Still a battle for OZ to make Brazil... they should but, will be touch and go.

OzFox Posted 20 July 2013 Posted 20 July 2013 no-one cares. The Man U Sydney branch cared. Many of them were shelling out over 120 quid to watch a friendly 20,000 turned up for the training session on friday night...at $15 a ticket

OzFox Posted 20 July 2013 Posted 20 July 2013 muppets. I was almost one of them...then I came to my senses. It's what happens when you're deprived of quality footy Liverpool take on Victory at the MCG next week. Another sell out.
OzFox Posted 24 July 2013 Posted 24 July 2013 Looks like 90,000 expat Scousers...a sea of red. Where are the Victory fans? What the hells going on down there Roofox??
Uncle Albert Posted 24 July 2013 Posted 24 July 2013 95,000 sell out for a friendly on a Wednesday?! Massive respect to Aussies out in force. The rendition of YNWA was amazing! Honestly think there is a handful of clubs around the world who would get this kind of reception.
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 24 July 2013 Posted 24 July 2013 Melbourne Victory youth team have managed to pull 95,000 people to a friendly, credit to all Victory fans
OzFox Posted 24 July 2013 Posted 24 July 2013 Victory are doing alright so far. Big improvement on the "All Stars" last week Hope Suarez makes an appearance
purpleronnie Posted 24 July 2013 Posted 24 July 2013 Wow all those people to see 2 youth sides, must be nothing else to do.
OzFox Posted 24 July 2013 Posted 24 July 2013 Wow all those people to see 2 youth sides, must be nothing else to do. Well, judging from the TV coverage there's no Victory fans there, so they obviously found something to do
purpleronnie Posted 24 July 2013 Posted 24 July 2013 Well, judging from the TV coverage there's no Victory fans there, so they obviously found something to do Did they interview all 96,000 or was it a survey?
OzFox Posted 24 July 2013 Posted 24 July 2013 Did they interview all 96,000 or was it a survey? Didn't glimpse much blue among the sea of red. Looked like the anfield kop for the most part
OzFox Posted 24 July 2013 Posted 24 July 2013 ...see what I mean http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=JbqAqVSbdzs
purpleronnie Posted 25 July 2013 Posted 25 July 2013 ...see what I mean http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=JbqAqVSbdzs cringe. Did they all sit down in silence after that in tribute to liverpool fans in england?
Jordan Posted 26 July 2013 Posted 26 July 2013 Wow, purpleronnie, tell us how you really feel about Aussie soccer!
OzFox Posted 26 July 2013 Posted 26 July 2013 cringe. Did they all sit down in silence after that in tribute to liverpool fans in england? Amazing. You're possibly even more cynical about Australia than I am I bet if this had been at an MLS stadium you'd have been wetting yourself Sadly the "Scousers" kept up a decent amount of noise for the whole game. Quite an achievement when they're playing in an oval miles from the pitch. I suspect the crowd was mostly made up of expat tragics like me (and formerly you) desperate for a slice of the old country, and local Melbournites jumping on the bandwagon That's big crowds in the last few years for Man UTD, Liverpool, Celtic, Everton and even Beckham Galaxy. Got me thinking what would happen if Leicester played out here. Would we generate that sort of following, or would we end up in some regional fleapit in front of one man and a dog?
Aus Fox Posted 27 July 2013 Posted 27 July 2013 I'd be there! I suppose I could take the dog along too...
ozleicester Posted 31 October 2013 Author Posted 31 October 2013 Gallas confirmed for Perth Glory. http://www.watoday.com.au/sport/soccer/william-gallas-aiming-for-glory-at-new-club-perth-20131031-2wiig.html#ixzz2jGQAXApX over the nxt 5 weeks we should get a look at Del Piero, Heskey and Gallas. Sure theyre old, but ill take it
Pride_Of_The_Midlands Posted 31 October 2013 Posted 31 October 2013 After watching us lose to you in the Rugby League World Cup, I think it's time that you played us in our number 1 sport. We were rumoured to be playing you in a friendly at Wembley next month but we are playing Chile (and Germany) instead. Would be good to be drawn in the same group as you at the World Cup (no foreign managers involved ) We play each other all the time in cricket and rugby (rugby union test on Saturday) but hardly ever in the most important sport of them all

Aus Fox Posted 4 November 2013 Posted 4 November 2013 Just watching the victory game James Triosi looks different class, don't think he will be hanging around the A league too long.
