cosmos Posted 20 April 2012 Posted 20 April 2012 I'd like a team like the city of old who could be losing in the last ten minutes and still make you feel we could win the game. We just don't get that now, it's a passion, hunger or desire kind of thing!
Captain... Posted 20 April 2012 Posted 20 April 2012 I'd like a team like the city of old who could be losing in the last ten minutes and still make you feel we could win the game. We just don't get that now, it's a passion, hunger or desire kind of thing! As opposed to this team that could be winning 3-0 in the last few minutes and still make you feel like we are going to lose
Raw Dykes Posted 20 April 2012 Posted 20 April 2012 Progress. A team that looks interested in winning, rather than a bunch of individuals who don't always look bothered. A proper promotion challenge.
Thracian Posted 20 April 2012 Posted 20 April 2012 Winning any league makes a statement but doing so with a bit of charisma makes a legend. I've never wanted us just to win but to set a standard to be admired and with players I could identify with, players who we've helped to develop in our own breathtaking image. In that sort of set-up it is not about money, or ego or self. It's about excellence. Some will say that's all a dream but it's not. Because I've been there and I know what it feels like. I've been there as a sportsman and as a coach. And there's no feeling like it. And sadly, at Leicester over the years, they've commissioned functionaries to live dreams and it hasn't worked. Levein, Kelly, Megson, Pearson they' all had us playing with our guard up. They'd all take 1-0. The legend wants to take applause. He wants to see fans leaping from their seats, flags being waved, homegoing fans filling the air with excited banter based on "Did you see that". There should only be one instruction when you score a goal - and that is to score another. And another after that. Only one aim when you pass the ball 20 times in rapid succession and that is to pass it 20 more. That's what I want at Leicester. I want someone to make dreams come true.
cosmos Posted 20 April 2012 Posted 20 April 2012 And i want t see matt mills back, forget this talk of distribution, he is a proper big centre half who wins the majority of aerial battles, show us you're for leicester city nigel and forget your personal squabbles and pick the best centre half this club has!
dannythefox Posted 20 April 2012 Posted 20 April 2012 To get off to a good start next season would be great and be in the to two by the end of the season playing nice football.

Wow! That's both incredibly unlikely, and something that is not going to improve the team. It's going to be detrimental. I'm struggling to think of a similar example to illustrate my point. You're allowed to ask for a lot more, and you should also be more realistic. I can't believe that makes sense.
Bayfox Posted 20 April 2012 Posted 20 April 2012 The thing is, that would end with the manager being sacked anyway. I can't say I'd be happy with young hungry players if they achieved the same as the current lot. Coventry have young hungry players but I doubt their fans are proud of their team, and they only have that kind of squad because they're skint. I don't expect promotion as such but I wouldn't accept a repeat of this season, I want to see significant progress and if we don't get in the play-offs it would be hard for Nigel to justify keeping his job. this year has been a year of total under achievement from players who promised more. my point is, taking promising youngsters and getting shot of the howards, wellens and gallys of this world, i'd take 1 more season of mid table if i felt we had a chance of growing and molding a team, not saying it will work. just that i don't think the current squad can take us were we want to go.

Yeh I agree, and if more youngsters did turn out to be the answer then great. But it's possible to mould a team if we got to the Premiership, I'd rather just get there first, by hook or by crook. It's possible to do this whilst building a team, and this is the ideal scenario I suppose. I'm pretty sure Pearson wouldn't be given the time for that sort of thing if we didn't improve and get in the play-offs at least.

Probably a bit of all three. I do want Pearson to succeed but I've maintained Sven could have no complaints when he was sacked after a year. If Pearson got to the end of next season and we hadn't got into the play-offs I'd be a hypocrite to say he should be in the job. At the end of the day the Premiership is where it's at and whilst I call for patience now, eventually the fans and the owners will get fed up if we aren't making big strides towards getting there, and I can't really argue with them. I'm not against a building process at all but you can't expect people to wait 1 and half - 2 years for it to show any evidence of working, not with the resources we've got. Pearson will know this, and he successfully built a team before whilst achieving things along the way, and there was steady improvement over those 2 seasons. Frankly we've been down here long enough and I'm a bit tired of being the also rans of the second tier. We need to get back where we belong and a good manager would make a decent fist of it next season, and I still think Pearson has what it takes.
flowwolf Posted 20 April 2012 Posted 20 April 2012 This seasons inconsistency has really been the bugbear for me. At times we have looked really good and got some great results only to fall at the next hurdle to teams we should beat. I think what I realistically want next season is a team that is consistently hard to beat and can grind out a result when it looks impossible. I suppose we all want to see sparkling football and thrash the opposition every week, but I'll settle for winning regularly and not losing games we should win, not so many silly errors and some espirit de corps. I don't just mean effort and 'passion' I think I mean professionalism, collective professionalism. I suspect that would mean some out and some in, but something has to change What are the rest of you looking for next season? My wife to drop her draws a bit more regular than this season that's all.
