Rincewind Posted 12 July 2012 Posted 12 July 2012 Just saw in an Email confirmation where that job is based. Leicester High school for girls. I definately won't get it. I'd be looked upon as a dirty old man. Anyone know where it is? OK just googled. Its up London Road. Not too far to walk so no excuse about distance. It's a private school I think or part of the University. When I went for a relief cleaner job at an Oadby school there were security on the gate. Is it common now at schools?
pSinatra Posted 12 July 2012 Posted 12 July 2012 Down London Road, just short of the racecourse roundabout
Rincewind Posted 12 July 2012 Posted 12 July 2012 Just been looking at the handbook. They have girls aged 3-5 staying there. Take a look at the fees. If they want meals its extra. It's a school security/premises officer 7.30am-2.30pm during scool term plus 13 additional Saturdays 8am-6pm. I wonder if that would be out of school term and theschool is empty? Just hope it isn'tresidential because it is a boarding school so would want a security present all the time. Not too bothered anyway until I know if I have got an interview. Would much rather do he City steward job but for a year I'd takeeither. Next year I'll claim pension credits and semi retire.
SystonFox Posted 13 July 2012 Posted 13 July 2012 i feel the interview went well. spent over an hour sat in starbucks with the service operations manager. at the end of the interview he told me it's between me and another guy, the other guy being 45 years old and of slighty more experience/knowledge to what i have. i am 25. it all depends if they want me and someone to mould to what they want or they want him and he could potentially hit the ground running. really hope i get offered the job it's ideal for me in my opinion
Rincewind Posted 14 July 2012 Posted 14 July 2012 I put Leicester in a filter for a job alert along with part time cleaner. This result came up as a close match. Maintenance Planner in Rengineering Jobs Town/County: Chinchilla, Australia | Company: BG Group I wonder if they will provide transport?
Vardinhio Posted 15 July 2012 Posted 15 July 2012 Dude if your SIA license is expired then why not renew it? If you are not CRB cleared to the appropriate level then go get that clearance. Personally I had to take a job 120 miles away from Leicester to stay employed, I chose to live halfway between due to my personal circumstances. This month I have driven over 1100 miles and my job doesn't even involve driving, just what I rake up with commuting and coming back at weekends. All I'm saying is you seem to be on a downer all the time. "The whole world's against me, I'm too old for this, I don't have this or that". I'm sorry if I'm harsh but it's a damn good job you are about to retire, you'd never survive the way this country's going. I do appreciate by the way that you seem to be wanting to "get by" until these pension credits kick in but man, give yourself some more respect and go get that job .
Rincewind Posted 15 July 2012 Posted 15 July 2012 Why don't I get it renewed ? £200 plus. I do not drive so any job has to be reasonably local and accessable during work hours.
Vardinhio Posted 15 July 2012 Posted 15 July 2012 but what if it helped you to get a job, it could be more beneficial long term?
Rincewind Posted 15 July 2012 Posted 15 July 2012 Yes it would if I wanted to go back to security. Anyway as a result of a tribunal the company that does the site where I worked were supposed to give me a job at the site and renew my license. I have not heard from them for about 3 weeks when I last emailed them. To be frank I think they are deliberately using delaying tactics. They keep finding excusis. Wanting more documentation etc and I am at the point where I am thinking sod them I do not want to work 48 hours for you. I only need do 16 hours and I am hopeful something will turn up. Going to a work program thing tomorrow. I will enquire whether my license can be paid for by them. I can then look for a security type job with less hours and better money.
