Babylon Posted 8 July 2005 Posted 8 July 2005 Footballer dies in freak accident Falkirk FC said it would be in touch with the player's relatives A young footballer has been electrocuted at Falkirk FC's training ground after equipment he was carrying came into contact with power lines. The 17-year-old is thought to have been carrying poles for nets which touched lines above the Little Kerse sports ground in Grangemouth on Friday. He was pronounced dead by medical staff called to the scene. Falkirk FC officials said there would be no comment until they had spoken to the player's next-of-kin. An investigation has been launched following the incident. Pole contact Central Scotland Police said the player's identity would not be released until relatives have been informed. The teenager is believed to have been carrying 20ft long poles for transportable nets used behind normal football goals to catch balls which miss the target. One of the poles is thought to have come into contact with a cable. A police spokesman said a report would be sent to the procurator fiscal
