Olympics... Are You Bovvered

I am excited by the olympics, probably more so than usual, but I am also getting a bit fed up with certain elements of it, that is things like every time I go to London I get given a free walking map of the area, and get told that I should leave earlier, walk and find alternative ways of getting around during the olympics, I often get stuck in traffic caused by road works being done for the olympics. It does seem like we are trying to piss as many people off as possible by hosting it.

The other thing pissing me off, is the way we seem to have tried to distance these olympics as much as possible from the UK. Our logo is an abomination, our mascots are just plain weird and we are even refusing to take advantage of the home advantage and allowing other countries more access to the olympic facilities than our own athletes.

I fully expect the olympic ceremony to be some wich washy multi-cultural crap, Beijing showcased China and everything that it stands for, London 2012 is trying to do the oppostie, where are the bulldogs, the dragons, the Big Bens, the union flag, all of these seem to have been purged from London 2012.

I would like to see the opening ceremeony to be an homage to our colonial and industrial past, when we revolutionised and ran the world, when we were the most powerful nation to have ever been, Fvck the Roman empire and the Ottoman empire the British Empire kicked ass.

A few points.

I'd take a bigger interest if they made the archery a bit more competitive.

They could do it Hun style. On horseback travelling at high speed, no-handed, shooting at moving targets.

As it is, the archers just stand there stock still, under no pressure whatsoever.

I enjoyed the swimming reporting from Shaz Davies in Sydney 2000 I think it was. Nip City.

The opening/closing ceremonies are the worst thing about the Olympics, defo don't want to watch those parts. Some of the sports are decent though.

As the Captain said, the mascots are weird.

Only slightly interested, less so since we are all paying and only London gets the good bits. Some crap football in Glasgow that no one has bought tickets for.

We've got that flame thing in Orkney this weekend. The runners flanked by metropolitan police, anyone eating a KFC or wearing adidas on camera is taken outside and shot apparently.

Going to the football, don't know who's playing but going to the Ricoh.. hopefully having six fingers is not contagious. Will probably be China v Nigeria for all my luck, not watching anything else just boring, dreary sports that I would rather stick pins into my eyeballs than watch.

Not interested at all, same with Euro 2012.

But not gonna moan or whine about it though coz lots of people are bothered about them.

So will just avoid TV for the duration - lots of box sets to catch up on anyways. Been avoiding BBC for sometime now anyway, so won't be too hard.

Thank You. I hope everyone else who isn't interested doesn't whine about them as well. There are plenty of other channels to watch, dvds and videos you haven't got round to watching yet or books you haven't read. They'll be over before you know it and we can all get back to moaning about City
