Leicester Street in Highfields? I was there today, what an absolute shit hole. Condolences to the chap's family, in an area like that about 10% of the population will be suspects surely.

Jeez , that must have been a pretty nasty couple of experiences !!

I got questioned once about a robbery because a car I'd scrapped had been used in the crime . That was bad enough !!

Fook knows if they used it as a getaway, because it was a right old bag o' nails (Vauxhall Victor )

I was dragged from my bed whilst i was drunk (had been out for my 21st birthday )and taken to Charles Street,my dad tried to stop them but to no avail.

when i had sobered up they questioned and photographed me and after further investigation i was released at about lunch time the following day

Are you sure Leicester Street is Highfeilds? Don't remember seeing it near me. Isn't it up East Park Road? Not all Highfeilds is the same.

A distant relative of mind, who I'd never actually met but has the same uncommon surname as me, was involved in a murder a few years ago. I used to to get a few funny looks from some people, and people who'd normally avoid my wife used to go out of their way to talk to her to try and get some gossip. Everyone assumed it was one of my sisters. The BBC and ITV rang and asked if I'd any comments after the trial. I'd never even heard of this girl until the trial started.

West isn't all that uncommon as a surname you know?

This is why I asked where Leicester Street was. Highfeilds is no more a shithole than some of the other estates. In fact it has always had a good reputation for having a close knit diverse community.

Leicester Street is near Green Lane Road & East Park Road so it'll either be in Spinney Hill or Crown Hills not Highfields. Highfields is further up past Spinney Hill going towards London Road

Highfields really isnt that bad, pretty good community, alot of families and schools, alot of decent shops and food places

Not many pubs, but London Road and Town isnt far away

As long as you know what your doing, and dont look for trouble its very unlikely it will come and find you

And RIP to the shopkeeps, horrible to die in pain on hard cold concrete and a family man, my thoughts go out to them :(

I'm South Highfields. There is a book coming out in July about South Highfields. I was interviewed so may be featured in it along with a poem of mine. I'm just off Sparkenhoe Street. When I moved there the WMC (now Carebean Centre) closed.

Alright, Moat is dodgy as, youve got the rear end of London Road a homeless shelter mixed between an estate and a really dodgy collage

Not my territory, Im up near Medway

Really don't know what Highfields has got to do with anything. He was murdered in NORTHFIELDS. About 15 minutes walk away from me

Allright, dont start a kerfuffle over nothing, someone mentioned Highfields as worse than it is, gotta rep the endz ;)

Two 14-year-old boys have been charged with manslaughter following the death of a 41-year-old father-of-two in Leicester.

Ponnuthurai Nimalaraja, known as Nimal, was assaulted at the junction of Gypsy Lane and Northfield Road shortly after 23:00 BST on 9 June.

A 12-year-old girl arrested on Thursday has been released on bail pending further inquiries, police said.

The two youths are due to appear before Leicester Youth Court on Friday.

Another girl, aged 14 and a 15-year-old boy who we re-arrested on Thursday, have been released on bail.

Two boys, aged 14 and 13, who were on bail in relation to the attack have been released with no further action.

Mr Nimalaraja died in hospital one week after being attacked on 16 June.

They will probably get a playstation each and a slap on the wrist not to do it again....

Whoever lets their kids one a 12 year old roam the streets at 11pm.

I know it was the kids actions and that's what they are kids, but I think the parents should be punished also.Their parenting skills are truly shocking.i have a daughter who has just turned twelve and I don't let her go out past 8.30 in the summer, perhaps I'm being strict. She has sleep overs either here or at friends most weeks,go to swimming, skating etc.none of the parents let them go out any later apart from if we pick them up from a function.
