davieG Posted 11 July 2005 Posted 11 July 2005 From the Foxes Trust. FOXES TRUST PRESS RELEASE: FOR IMMEDIATE USE TRUST WANTS ANSWERS FROM POLICY AUTHORITIES The Foxes Trust has reacted angrily to the news that Leicester City Football Club face significantly increased Policing costs for the 2005-6 season as revealed during a Fans Open Meeting held recently at the club. Trust Board Member Leigh Nethercot reflected the mood of fans at the meeting stating “Fans are getting increasingly cynical about the reasons behind these costs and asking is this more about generating revenue to satisfy police budgets than any problem with fan behaviour, we are seeing similar cases around the country with Wigan being a prime example†He added “Last season there were a number of police free fixtures held at our stadium which proceeded without a problem and this was confirmed in a Safety Advisory Group meeting. So how do the police authorities justify their need to be present for the same fixtures this season, where is the evidence to back up their reasoning?†Trust Chairman Ian Bason is now calling for a meeting “We feel it is vital that Adrian Russell, as Chair of the Safety Advisory Group, alongside Police representatives pulls together a meeting with a group of City supporters before the start of the season to agree, and we mean agree not dictate, a way forward. It is apparent to us that the football club has become increasingly frustrated over the last year, the time is right for direct dialogue between the authorities and the fansâ€Â... Additional notes for editors (feel free to print any of the content below) The Foxes Trust, as a responsible fans organisation, recognises that for selected fixtures an increased police presence is required and fully understands the need for selected fixtures with Leeds and Cardiff being two obvious examples and hopes that the few individuals within our own supporter base who look to cause trouble will read figures such as the additional £50,000 mentioned and realise that their actions could deprive our manager of some much needed funds and behave in future The Trust has been carrying out research alongside the fans organisation Stand Up, Sit Down and understands that our Local Safety Advisory Group is one of the strictest in the Country (along with Reading and Middlesboro) and feels that the inconsistency within football grounds in regards to periods of standing is a contributory factor to problems experienced at a few games last season. The Foxes Trust was formed in 2002 and came to prominence when it helped save Leicester City Football Club when it was in administration. It is one of the largest Football Trusts in the UK and following recent investment has shares in excess of £150,000 in Leicester City.
Louise Posted 11 July 2005 Posted 11 July 2005 Sounds more like money-grabbing police. I suppose now that the Health services in Leicestershire are running at a £30 million deficit we'll see 600 doctors at every game.

At some stage it's the fans who are going to ultimately pay, but why should the majority of supporters in other sections who abide by the rules, whether or not we agree with them, have to pay out for the moniority?

While there is no doubt the SAG are over zealous in their inforcement of certain rules, the clowns that sit in L1 and 'give it large' to stewards and visiting fans are to blame for this. Their hard man persona's soon melt away a the merest hint of bother, Leeds game anyone? I know full well there are decent supporters in L1, but they are getting tarred with a big brush because of the immature actions of growing minority. Name and shame the louts that's what I say.

The main reason i'm moving from L1 is due mainly to the hassle from the Stewards and Police, towards the end of last season it got beyond a joke. Plus at the top when it kicked off against Leeds all the cops and stewards ran to the bottom leaving us to get hit by missiles and because of the idiots who began the chants (Who in turn, ran!) we took the majority of the assualt.

That one was stupid to be fair, they knew it would kick off if they chanted that one. I was more dismayed to see little kids getting caught in the crossfire. Anyway, it wasnt quite the atmosphere that I was hoping for, any chance they can get the Kop moved!
Jonbluefox9 Posted 11 July 2005 Posted 11 July 2005 I was amazed to hear some racism at kettering yesterday. Maybe the people that were making racist comments don't realise what they are saying might offend black people but I'm sure it would do. The most amazing thing about it was the comments were aimed in the direction of O'Grady and Porter and these were Leicester fans. If I had been a black person standing near them I wouldn't get a very good impression of Leicester fans and it would put me off going to other games.
Jimmy Posted 11 July 2005 Posted 11 July 2005 they should never of split the kop in the 1st place, when we moved the club deliberatly split pen1 and pen2 in order to "spred the atmosphere around the ground" i bet there regretting that now. they should move the away fans to F2/G1 as this will get the kop going and remove the trouble (if any) away from the family stand

Firstly, it is the one part of the ground where the Police can shephard the fans to and from the coaches straight into the ground. That means less chance of trouble. Secondly, the away end is situated immediately off the road where the visiting fans are escorted in from the railway station. That means the police can prevent trouble. Thirdly, upon leaving the ground the police can shephard the visiting fans to the coaches or the station without having to walk them through the massed ranks of City fans coming out of the East Stand or the South Stand. Basically it is all to do with the logistics of getting the visiting fans in and out of the ground with minimum fuss and opportunity for a major outbreak of trouble. Don't for one minute think the Police would allow the away section to be anywhere else or allow the Family Stand and South Stand to switch. A few hundred chavs in L1 are easier to police than 4,000 City fans either side of the visiting lot.
Janx Posted 11 July 2005 Posted 11 July 2005 you are right of course... how boring and sensible...boo!
