SOCCERROO FOX Posted 19 July 2012 Posted 19 July 2012 Anyone else follow baseball here? Who do you support? I'm a Reds supporter been going well still lead the National Central but with Votto out for the next 4-6 weeks we need players to stand up.
stix Posted 20 July 2012 Posted 20 July 2012 I'll watch it for abit if im flicking & its on. Don't really follow a team if im honest. Its a long-ass game though!!!
21st Century Fox Posted 20 July 2012 Posted 20 July 2012 San Francisco Giants. Saw them at AT&T Park in 2007, at the time Barry Bonds was one homer away from equalling Hank Aaron's record.
Jordan Posted 20 July 2012 Posted 20 July 2012 I was wearing a Yankees shirt when I left the hospital after being born, and my earliest memories are of living in The Bronx. I'll be a Yankees fan from the cradle to the grave, literally. Yanks are rolling to the AL East title, and have weathered some big pitching injuries quite well. It helps to have had spent more than the GDP of most nations on starting pitching salaries and to have a lineup that hits a gajillion home runs, of course. But we'll see what happens in the playoffs, where strong arms sometimes wither and hot bats can cool down awfully quickly. Roo: Reds pitching has been phenomenal. They've had loads of young talent come through in the last few years and they're growing up fast.

Was watching at work the other day Ibanez's Grand Slam against Toronto when scores were level massive clutch hit at the bottom of the 8th when scores were tied. Do you think this is your year? Cuetto and more recently Latos except against the d-backs 2 days ago have been the standouts. Cuetto was unlucky to not make the All Star game he has been brilliant. Chapman's closing has been great all season except for a bit of a form slump a couple of months back. Were having a good season but lost something like 20 games by just one run. If we had converted even 5 of those we would be walking the central. Were in big trouble this morning but Phillips was on fire today definetly standing up in Votto's absence.
Jordan Posted 24 July 2012 Posted 24 July 2012 Ichiro starts his Yankees career with one of his vintage base hits up the middle, and steals second for good measure.
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 24 July 2012 Author Posted 24 July 2012 More stocked that we won whilst the cards and pirates both lost. Surely there should be a rule he can't play against his old side 24hours later?
Guesty Posted 24 July 2012 Posted 24 July 2012 I'm a Mariners fan - we've been shite for 10 years and god knows when it's gonna get any better.
Jordan Posted 29 July 2012 Posted 29 July 2012 Ugghh... Yanks come back to tie the game against the Sawx last night, then give up two in the ninth when Granderson trips and falls tracking a fly ball by Ciriaco Granderson is a good ballplayer and a good guy so we can forgive him for one mistake, even against our ancient enemy. The win brings the Sawx within one game of .500 and only 11 games back in the loss column! There was a banner in the upper deck at a Yankees-Red Sox game at the original Stadium a while back that read, "DON'T GET US WRONG - WE LOVE BOSTON ... IN SECOND PLACE!" I think I love it a little more when they're in last place.
Narborough_fox Posted 30 July 2012 Posted 30 July 2012 Yanks fan myself. Been to both the Old and New Yankee Stadium and loved it both times. Good to see them romping it this year! Off to Rays - Orioles on Friday, should be good with it being a new stadium and all that. Rays are on an awful run mind.
goose2010 Posted 30 July 2012 Posted 30 July 2012 Went to watch the blue jays at the Rodgers dome when I was in Toronto the other year, loved it had a tour of the stadium as well, very impressive stadium.
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 30 July 2012 Author Posted 30 July 2012 10 in a row and a chance to make it 11 against the Padres, Good start 3nil up after the first
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 31 July 2012 Author Posted 31 July 2012 Spoke to soon now 9 -3 down still top of the 3
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 2 August 2012 Author Posted 2 August 2012 Finished off the Padres series well, now the pirates at home at the GABP live on ESPN Friday night baseball. Big series if we can win all 3 we will lead the NL Central by 7.
AmericanScott Posted 2 August 2012 Posted 2 August 2012 I'm a Mets fan. Our season started off really well but has tailed off as expected. It'll be a few more years until we can get any where near the play offs again. The Nationals are having an awesome season. Very impressed by the young talent they got. The Spankees will win the WS easily. Despite having most the pitching staff on the DL, the bats have been swinging strong!
Raw Dykes Posted 2 August 2012 Posted 2 August 2012 San Francisco Giants. Saw them at AT&T Park in 2007, at the time Barry Bonds was one homer away from equalling Hank Aaron's record. I do not believe this! Second unbelievable consequence in one day! Giants for me, too. I don't really follow baseball at all, but I wanted a baseball shirt for part of a fancy dress costume, and the cheapest one I found on ebay was a Giants one, so they're the team I'm disinterested in the least. Would have been the Red Sox, because as a kid I spent the last of my spending money on a holiday to Cape Cod on a Red Sox baseball, but I stupidly left the carrier bag it was in, with another one my brother bought and all my dad's duty free fags, hanging off the back of the trolley at the airport. Realised a minute or two after we drove off, but it had already gone when we went back. Was gutted, and I still don't like them, even though it was my fault. We also met a couple of racist anti-English plastic paddy idiots out there, though, so fvck the Red Sox. Maggot Brain and now this. Getting a bit too spooky now. Next you'll be telling me you support Leicester City, as well.

The Spankees will win the WS easily. Despite having most the pitching staff on the DL, the bats have been swinging strong! The Yanks have been skidding--some close losses and some awful starting pitching (Ivan Nova, I'm looking at you) were big parts of a recent slide where they lost 9 of their last 12 before a big win vs Baltimore yesterday. A red-hot stretch just before that means they were ably to afford that skid, as they still have the A.L.'s best record and lead the East by 6.5 games (7 in the loss column). As for Raw Dykes, yes, that kind of shock is just how English folks react when they find out I support Leicester!
Guest MattP Posted 3 August 2012 Posted 3 August 2012 I'll throw my San Fran hat in here............... See you in the post season with our pitchers, Yanks look strong this year though,
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 3 August 2012 Author Posted 3 August 2012 Reds still have the most wins out of all teams @610 We've been an incredible 20 out of 23 and 14 out of 17 since Votto got injured. Played this morning with out Phillips, Votto and Ludwick probably our 3 best bats. Why does everyone either follow the Yankees or the Giants?

Guest MattP Posted 3 August 2012 Posted 3 August 2012 Why does everyone either follow the Yankees or the Giants? Because we are either pricks or queer. I don't know tbh, I go for the Giants as i first watched live sport in the bay...... same as the first team I watched from your land was the Blues, (Ratten Out)
Narborough_fox Posted 3 August 2012 Posted 3 August 2012 Why does everyone either follow the Yankees or the Giants? Was in New York, went to a Yankees game and loved it. Helps with them being a successful team, I need to support a successful team in something.
AmericanScott Posted 6 August 2012 Posted 6 August 2012 Mets have been incredible this season................at throwing away leads Yes this is very true! We have the worst blown saves percentage, worst bullpen ERA, etc. It's expected as a Mets fan though. Until Wilpons **** off and sell, we'll never have a squad capable of post season.
dobbylcfc Posted 11 August 2012 Posted 11 August 2012 When I was in Florida last year on hols went down to see tampa bay rays against st Louis and I loved it always look out for there results and see that there on a bit of a run at the mo but think its gonna be a big ask to catch the Yankees.
