They're the big names that played against us, the others were playing in Euro 2004.

We should beat Oxford, they underperformed a bit last season (I remember the game against Lincoln at the Kassam where Lincoln won 1-0 but had 4 goals disallowed and hit the post, haw). I won't forget the drama at the end of the 2002-03 season with the fight for the final play-off place.

davieG Posted 13 July 2005 Posted 13 July 2005 Welcome Hazz, sorry about some of the early replies, fans wanting to have a genuine conversation about footy are always welcome, as for the game well pre-season friendlies are just organised training so I would imagine neither side is too concerned about the result but more concerned with fitness, individual performance and general team. Anyway eonugh of the essay and have a good season. Are you anywhere near Whitney only my daughter 's just moved there.
Simon Posted 13 July 2005 Posted 13 July 2005 Should be there as I used to live near there, the missus' family live near Oxford and her brother's a season ticket holder. Oxford should be much better this season and SHOULD make the playoffs at worse so it'll be a good work out for us. Although I have to confess the stadium feels a bit wierd what with there only being three stands! Davieg, Witney's a lovely place (IMO)

Results early in preseason perhaps aren't important but the last couple of games are as we should have it just about right by then. I don't understand managers who say their players will get into the swing of it when the real stuff kicks-off. They should be more than ready come 3pm (or 12:45 in our case) on the first day of the season.

CL will put a side out close to his final XI then depending on how well they play the subs will be in contention for a starting Xi place a week later. It will be an important game for both sets of players as it is their last chance to impress before the first game and get their name on the team sheet.
