Gaffer Posted 16 August 2012 Posted 16 August 2012 There was a chant at Torquay that a few oldies knew, the only line I could pick out was "boys in royal blue" anyone know the rest of the chant?
Sods Posted 16 August 2012 Posted 16 August 2012 Once upon a time there was a Spion Kop, Where we used to throw a can or two, Where we used to while away the hours. Watching the boys in royal blue. Those were the days my friend, we thought they would never end. We thought they'd never end, We took the Shed, the Stretford End, and the North Bank Highbury We live the life we choose, We'll fight and never lose, For we are young, and sure to have our way. Torquay was a decent atmosphere, lots of old songs.
Guest Bilo Posted 16 August 2012 Posted 16 August 2012 A good song that, always worth an airing. Such a shame that that kind of thing has largely fallen by the wayside.
Bert Posted 16 August 2012 Posted 16 August 2012 There were a lot of old boys out in force on Tuesday.
Sods Posted 16 August 2012 Posted 16 August 2012 There were a lot of old boys out in force on Tuesday. True that Monday night and Tuesday at the harbour especially. Tuesday night was pretty dead apart from Steve Walsh and his gang at Mambos.
NewquayFox Posted 16 August 2012 Posted 16 August 2012 Me & Pete Cambell were starting those songs off, took us back to the old days in the supporters club end at Filbert Street, really enjoyed Tuesday night. Chips & Beans, Chips & Beans on a tray....;0)
1964FOX Posted 16 August 2012 Posted 16 August 2012 Was also sung, along with a few others, at the spoons in the town before the game by a group I was near. They looked like really old blokes, very strange characters indeed, I think one of them was called Bertie Mee.
Basingstoke Fox Posted 16 August 2012 Posted 16 August 2012 Never heard that one. How does the tune go? Be nice to hear more songs like that when following Leicester.
NewquayFox Posted 16 August 2012 Posted 16 August 2012 Ha ha haaaa, love these comments about really old blokes singing, oh how times have changed from the Filbert Street days. No atmosphere at the KP and thats why its a good laugh to go and enjoy the terraces at the lower league grounds. How ironic that the song in question was sung to the tune of 'Those were the days' by Mary Hopkin... ;0)

I only went once on a FNF night. I know, I missed out on alot!

Voll Blau Posted 16 August 2012 Posted 16 August 2012 Love it when the classics get reeled off. Sadly usually confined to the pub before away games. Wish some of the kids on here would take as much time to learn some of our old school chants and taking pride in our club's heritage as they do bumming whatever generic shit "witty" crap Soccer AM tell them to sing.
1964FOX Posted 16 August 2012 Posted 16 August 2012 Bertie Mee said to Bill Shankly have you heard of the north Bank Highbury? Shanks said no I don't think so But I'.ve heard of the Leicester Boot Boys Yes that's him and even Arthur Cox turned up.
Guest Bilo Posted 16 August 2012 Posted 16 August 2012 Apparently Robert Maxwell's gone and drowned. I might pop up to the circus in the town later.
Guest MattP Posted 16 August 2012 Posted 16 August 2012 Used to love singing this one, like many have said shame it's generally confined to the pub now before away games.

HEGGSY Posted 16 August 2012 Posted 16 August 2012 In Dublins fair city Where the girls are so pretty I first set my eyes on sweet Molly Malone As she wheeled her wheelbarrow Through streets wide and narrow Singing Clap clap clap clap clap clap clap clap clap LEICESTER!!!
NewquayFox Posted 16 August 2012 Posted 16 August 2012 Ha haa, Chips & Beans was one of mine Jace, hopefully this thread will get a few fans singing and having a laugh at footy again.... ;0)
