"Boys in royal blue"

There was a chant at Torquay that a few oldies knew, the only line I could pick out was "boys in royal blue" anyone know the rest of the chant?

Once upon a time there was a Spion Kop,

Where we used to throw a can or two,

Where we used to while away the hours.

Watching the boys in royal blue.

Those were the days my friend, we thought they would never end.

We thought they'd never end,

We took the Shed, the Stretford End, and the North Bank Highbury

We live the life we choose,

We'll fight and never lose,

For we are young, and sure to have our way.

Torquay was a decent atmosphere, lots of old songs.

A good song that, always worth an airing.

Such a shame that that kind of thing has largely fallen by the wayside.

There were a lot of old boys out in force on Tuesday.

True that Monday night and Tuesday at the harbour especially.

Tuesday night was pretty dead apart from Steve Walsh and his gang at Mambos.

Me & Pete Cambell were starting those songs off, took us back to the old days in the supporters club end at Filbert Street, really enjoyed Tuesday night.

Chips & Beans, Chips & Beans on a tray....;0)

Was also sung, along with a few others, at the spoons in the town before the game by a group I was near. They looked like really old blokes, very strange characters indeed, I think one of them was called Bertie Mee.

Ha ha haaaa, love these comments about really old blokes singing, oh how times have changed from the Filbert Street days. No atmosphere at the KP and thats why its a good laugh to go and enjoy the terraces at the lower league grounds.

How ironic that the song in question was sung to the tune of 'Those were the days' by Mary Hopkin... ;0)

:( I really wish I had someone to take me up to Filbert Street when it was still around. I only went once on a FNF night. I know, I missed out on alot!

Love it when the classics get reeled off. Sadly usually confined to the pub before away games.

Wish some of the kids on here would take as much time to learn some of our old school chants and taking pride in our club's heritage as they do bumming whatever generic shit "witty" crap Soccer AM tell them to sing.

Yes that's him and even Arthur Cox turned up.

Apparently Robert Maxwell's gone and drowned. :jawdrop:

I might pop up to the circus in the town later.

Used to love singing this one, like many have said shame it's generally confined to the pub now before away games.

In Dublins fair city

Where the girls are so pretty

I first set my eyes on sweet Molly Malone

As she wheeled her wheelbarrow

Through streets wide and narrow

Singing

Clap clap clap clap clap clap clap clap clap

LEICESTER!!!

Amen to that, just remember to bring a hatchet along to the next away game but leave your razors and lead at home.
