roadrunner gull Posted 17 August 2012 Posted 17 August 2012 gulls fan here to wish you luck, having seen your display the other evening im sure you will be in the top four this season, i think we showed you far to much respect on the night, we were 3 players down but thats not an excuse as you totally dominated us, i was very impressed with your team, there was a large gulf between the two teams and i expect us to have a decent season though.and your support for a midweek game was superb, well done to all. also i would just like to say i thought poor old pokey took some unfair stick from your lot but being the true pro that he his and a top bloke to boot he didnt bite and carried on to do his job against a top class forward line, good luck to you all!!
glenny_fox Posted 17 August 2012 Posted 17 August 2012 Thabks very much for the nice comments, it all could have been different if you had put away your chances at the start, but looking at the way you played, without 3 regular players, I don't see any reason why you can't get promotion this year. Hopefully the same can be said for us.
1964FOX Posted 17 August 2012 Posted 17 August 2012 I'm sure Pokey realised it was all in good fun even though it was quite relentless, if he had given us a wave he would have got the biggest cheer all night.
roadrunner gull Posted 17 August 2012 Author Posted 17 August 2012 im sure he would have but i think he was a bit deflated with events on the night thanks for your comments glenny and ithuriel
NewquayFox Posted 17 August 2012 Posted 17 August 2012 Nice comments Roadrunner cheers, living in Newquay i must admit to liking Torquay FC having been to Argyle quite a lot over the last few years and i dislike them and as for Exeter, they knocked us out of the FA Cup in the 70s. Thought your keeper took the banter well and it was just a bit of fun, he should have waved though..... ;0)
roadrunner gull Posted 17 August 2012 Author Posted 17 August 2012 thanks newquay, not over keen on plym and its was great to do the double last season, as for exeter, what i think of them i cant say on here.good luck for the new season mate
Leicester_Numan Posted 17 August 2012 Posted 17 August 2012 Thanks for the comments, very nice of you. I think you were the better side till Dyer scored, it could have easily gone the other way if you'd put your chances away. I always keep an eye on results of teams we beat in the cups so i'll be doing the same again, best of luck to you for the season.
roadrunner gull Posted 17 August 2012 Author Posted 17 August 2012 yes we had a couple of chances but once ostler our full back made a school by error dyer was in there like a flash, pokey had no chance, we did miss bodin , macklin and stevens which would have given us so much pace up front but we had to do without them and the players in there didnt take there chances, poor old rene howe worked his socks off on his own all night and was getting fustrated in the end, will be keeping my eye on your results too.
Dan Posted 17 August 2012 Posted 17 August 2012 Appreciated, thought you were unlucky to be 2 down when you were but the gulf in quality showed, when it was 0-2 by half-time it was inevitable we were gonna hit another couple. But best of luck to Torquay, come across as one of the most harmless clubs I've seen.
roadrunner gull Posted 17 August 2012 Author Posted 17 August 2012 thanks dan, yes we are a friendly club, dont get to many problems, always floating around the two lower leagues, have had some good seasons in the last 5 years for a nice change, thats what its like down here in sleepy devon, but very proud of our club, as i always say to the armchair premier fans in devon, your club is your club weather it be man utd or little old torquay, its in your blood, but dont slag us off because we are in the lowest league, support your local team. good luck for the new season.
