I've heard people state as far as the sound acrylic is best, I would avoid felt for the static.  Heard good things from a matt made from part rubber, part cork, but never tried it.

Thank you, will looking at getting an acrylic one then. I know that they do them in different thicknesses, how will I know which is the best size to get?

I think most people would say it really depend on size of cartridge, the larger (taller) would possibly require a thicker platter, I'd imagine 4mm would be the most used thickness.

Read a lot of positive things about Herbies.

Thank you really appreciate it. Probably got to look into it slightly as don't know what the right size for my record player would be.

Then got a mystery box from the mystery vinyl Co which I was sceptical about but turned out amazing

Paid £45 for that box included a nice cap and old copy of rolling stones mag from 1986 as well. 

 

They have three tiers £25 £35 and £45

 

I was skeptical but very happy with what I received
