lookwhaticando Posted 16 July 2005 Share Posted 16 July 2005 Our new look back 4 has only played together twice - and it's been a different back 4 each game. It's not like they've got familiar enough yet - but as mentioned that's what friendlies are all about, trying out all the Starting XI combos - give them practice and allow them to get familiar. Hopefully something will click in the second half and we'll find the net a couple of times

dynamite foxes Posted 16 July 2005 Share Posted 16 July 2005 I don't understand why we are so bad at corners- however |I do have a theory that our zonal marking system doesn't work and McCarthy's marking is poor.
jjno1 Posted 16 July 2005 Share Posted 16 July 2005 Im sure Levein will work hard on the training ground so we can defend corners. By the way can anybody tell me when our next friendly is?

lookwhaticando Posted 16 July 2005 Share Posted 16 July 2005 Lillestrom - 6th in the Norwegian Premier League Bodø/Glimt - 12th There's only 14 teams in the league - the bottom two teams are automatically relegated a divison at the end of the season, and the third from bottom has a play-off type game with the third best in the division below to secure a Prem spot. Just incase anyone wondered, or cared :

Hopefully now with our most likely strike pair, we could bang a couple more.

Friendly or not, 5-1 is pretty terrible 139188[/snapback] It's not the greatest scoreline. But you should keep in mind that lilletstrom are in the middle of their season - all the teams have played 13 games. They're 6th in the top league in Norway and they've probably got a very settled line-up. We're still 3 weeks away from the start of our season, our line-up has been changed drastically from the one that played just a few days ago. I'm sure if we were in the middle of our season too, we'd not be so far on the wrong end of a bad scoreline. It can't be terribly easy on the lads, they must feel a fair amount of pressure knowing that thier performances now could decide how their season begins - who'll be defending the dugout and who will be on the pitch. Nationwider Posted 16 July 2005 Share Posted 16 July 2005 Lillestrøm did qualify for the 2002/03 UEFA Champions League, having finished second to Rosenborg BK in the 2001 season. This impressive performance led to midfield player Pål Strand receiving a call-up to the national squad, while Swedish striker Magnus Powell and Clayton Zane both scored freely. Steven Posted 16 July 2005 Author Share Posted 16 July 2005 From the OS. Lillestrom SK 5-1 Leicester CityKippe 10 Sylla 61 Sundgot 39 Andresen 51 Rambekk 53 Powell 65 Leicester City went down 5-1 to Lillestrom SK in a pre-season friendly at the Arasen Stadium on Saturday evening. Craig Levein made seven changes to his the side that had beaten Bodo Glimt for the game, bringing in Paul Henderson, Richard Stearman, Stephen Hughes, Gareth Williams, Dion Dublin, Chris O'Grady and new signing Patrik Gerrbrand in for James Wesolowski, David Connolly, Mark de Vries, Momo Sylla, Nils-Eric Johansson, Alan Sheehan and Rab Douglas. It was fairly evident from the start that Lillestrom would pose much more of a threat than Bodo - and the home side came close to taking the lead in just the second minute of the contest. Anders Rambekk tried his luck with a header from 12 yards, but his effort fell just over the bar. Lillestrom went ahead with 10 minutes on the clock. Michael Mifsud whipped in a free-kick from the right, and giant centre-half Frode Kippe was on hand to head home past the helpless Henderson. And the home side almost doubled their advantage on the half-hour mark. Christoffer Andersson floated in a fine cross from the right, but Arild Sundgot's header fell just wide of the target. The home side were well on top, and made it 2-0 on 39 minutes. Pal Strand did well to find Sundgot who made no mistake with a header from close range. City went into the break having failed to register a shot on target. Levein took the opportunity to make two changes, bringing on Momo Sylla and Alan Sheehan for Alan Maybury and Jason Wilcox. Lillestrom added a third goal seven minutes into the second period. Andersson floated in a corner from the right and Pal Steffen Andresen rose unmarked to plant a firm header past Henderson. And it was 4-0 two minutes later - Rambekk deflecting Andersson's free-kick past the Leicester 'keeper. City grabbed a goal back in the 62nd minute. Substitute Sylla collected a Dublin pass to fire home an unstoppable drive from fully 25 yards. Leicester's goal did nothing but to kick-start the home side back into action though - substitute Magnus Powell rising unchallenged to head past Henderson. Levein made further changes, replacing Hughes, Dublin and O'Grady with Wesolowski, Connolly and de Vries. The Foxes will now return to Leicester on Sunday ahead of their next pre-season clash against Celtic on Tuesday night. City: Henderson, Stearman, Maybury (Sheehan 45), Gudjonsson, McCarthy, Gerrbrand, Hughes (Wesolowski 79), Williams, Dublin (de Vries 68), O'Grady (Connolly 68), Wilcox (Sylla 45). Sub not used: Johansson. Lillestrom: Muller, Andersson, Kippe, Andresen, Rambekk, Sogard, Wehrman, Koran, Stand, Mifsud, Sundgot. Subs: Jansen, Winsnes, Powell, Radulovic, Grubisic, Myklebust, Riise, Stefanutto. Source
Louise Posted 16 July 2005 Share Posted 16 July 2005 From glancing over that, it looks like four of them were headers, one from a free kick and another from a corner.
