lovelcfc Posted 6 December 2012 Posted 6 December 2012 Hi all, was just wondering what jobs do you all have which allows you to get to home and away matches on saturdays? I'm a ST holder and ideally don't want to work Saturdays so I can still get to football.
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 6 December 2012 Posted 6 December 2012 I work in a supermarket, i just give the manager dates/times i cant work and i usually get it off. Take Saturday i'm working 6-12 and then off to Leicester. Cardiff i'll miss though but thats because its last Saturday before Christmas so i'll let that one go. Hes promised i'll have 29th off for Burnley, and we're shut boxing day for Hull thankfully. For most away games i'll have the Saturday off but i always work Sunday and its fine.
Bayfox Posted 6 December 2012 Posted 6 December 2012 I work for myself and i find that working 8-5 mon-fri tends to do the trick. Never work past 1pm on a sat if we have to do them. And if i ask for time off for an away day. I find i always say yes.

Guest MattP Posted 7 December 2012 Posted 7 December 2012 Work for myself so not a problem. Used to do Saturday morning's in a supermarket though and used to come out with all sorts of excuses to leave early from mates ringing up saying I've got a family emergency to literally running out the store and hoping no one would notice.
1964FOX Posted 7 December 2012 Posted 7 December 2012 I work shifts 24/7 and have to use a lot of my time off to attend. I have to book everything 12 months in advance so you can imagine my joy when matches are changed at short notice. Fortunately the two girls I ave to compete with time off for hav no interest in taking Saturdays off so ot too bad at present.
Mike the Metal Ed Posted 7 December 2012 Posted 7 December 2012 I worked as a part time admin for East Leicester Medical Practice, doing the 1:30 - 6:00 shift Monday to Friday (+ half an hour on reception at the end of Friday) during the League One season. We had a practice meeting one lunchtime that said that due to budget constraints, overtime would be paid in TOIL instead of extra pay, effective immediately. So during my shift I asked my team leader if I could use the 30 minute overtime from the meeting to get off at 5:30, and bombed down to Walsall in time for the 4-1 win. Battling the traffic for the Friday night home match against Scunthorpe was fun, too.

Pretty much this, although I've been slacking this season because we've been struggling for weekend workers. Got this Saturday off though.
The Year Of The Fox Posted 9 December 2012 Posted 9 December 2012 Im a plumber. Usually work Monday to Friday though if they do ask me to work a saturday theyll only ask me if we havent got a game. theyre understanding as theyre all STHs as well
Rincewind Posted 9 December 2012 Posted 9 December 2012 A plumber put a boiler in my flat. Can only just reach the dials. Waiting for an electrician to fit the thermostat supposed have come Friday but I never heard him knock the door. The plumber took the plug off my multiplug to plug the boiler in. Don't they have plugs of their own. He unplugged my microwave to do it.

Another Supermarket worker here - I have Tuesdays and Saturdays off , which was fine until the Friday night games popped up , luckily my boss understands and I worked the equivalent hours earlier for them.

Some pipes are exposed but I suppose they will be covered up. Hoping the electrician comes in the morning. Should have a spare plug and left the multiplug near the boiler. Will let them put it on. Was expecting them Friday so don't know how I missed them.

Rincewind Posted 9 December 2012 Posted 9 December 2012 The last boiler was lower down on the wall wioth none of the insides showing. That's why I thought the thermostat control would go there. The dials to control it are only just in reach and can't see the figures. Have the CH on now but no idea what it is costing. I just turn the rads off when its warm enough.
