Rich Fox Posted 7 December 2012 Posted 7 December 2012 Would think you would pick up Radio leics mate 104.9fm in Derby no probs.
Deucalion Posted 7 December 2012 Posted 7 December 2012 Can just pick up Radio Leicester here and I must be about twice as far away as Derby. Hope you dad gets better soon.
Carl the Llama Posted 7 December 2012 Posted 7 December 2012 Hello all! My dad is missing tomorrows game and sadly being kept in D*rby Royal hospital Is there any phone apps that will allow him to listen to game? Any help/ advise appreciated Regards SF There's quite often a link to an online stream of the radio commentary in this thread. Failing that you could see if a foxes player trial is available on the LCFC site.
Al-aLondon-Foxile Posted 7 December 2012 Posted 7 December 2012 Use free minutes on a mobile, or very cheaply via a skype account to call home and listen to the radio via your mobile. I do this on Skype when I need to, often from overseas, usually on free wifi where possible which allows me to call free from wherever I am, and I call my pc & my son answers it & I listen with him to the city commentary, and we can have a chat about it as we usually do when we're together. It's a great way of us both getting the use of one account. Good luck
BoneDog Posted 7 December 2012 Posted 7 December 2012 You can get Radio Leicester crystal clear in Derby on a phone radio. Think you need headphones for the radio on a phone to work though.
Mike the Metal Ed Posted 7 December 2012 Posted 7 December 2012 You can get Radio Leicester crystal clear in Derby on a phone radio. Think you need headphones for the radio on a phone to work though. And if he doesn't have an FM radio on his phone, you can pick up a portable AM/FM radio for practically nothing. I've had Radio Leicester on in Peterborough and Northampton, and have listened to a Derby match from the centre of Leicester, so he should have no problem. I hope he gets better soon.
Southern Fox Posted 7 December 2012 Author Posted 7 December 2012 Thanks for all the tips and advice The radio in his ward only receives radio derby but he has an iPhone so will have a hunt about I live down in Kent so don't have any way of getting portable one to him but hoping to find an app or something
Adster Posted 7 December 2012 Posted 7 December 2012 Be careful on choosing apps on iPhone. Many of the Radio's require internet connectivity, and BBC Radio Leicester don't actually broadcast the game through internet radios. I bought Tune In Radio on my iPhone, paid 69p and I couldn't even listen to the Leicester games.
Al-aLondon-Foxile Posted 7 December 2012 Posted 7 December 2012 The only way to listen to it on an iPhone is to call someone and listen to their link on line or via radio commentary with the phone next to their speaker. Working out the cheapest method to do this is up to you.
LCFCCHRIS Posted 8 December 2012 Posted 8 December 2012 He could get someone who lives closer to the hospital who he knows to get him a cheap radio, you can get little handheld ones for next to nothing. As others have said you cant listen on online radio apps, made the same mistake (used to be able to but changed)
promised land Posted 8 December 2012 Posted 8 December 2012 If you have an I phone download the 'tune in' radio app. Great little app for radio.
JasonBourne1986 Posted 8 December 2012 Posted 8 December 2012 As the others have said, you should be able to pick us up with little problem on 104.9 FM in Derby. The signal travels far - even as far as Sheffield at times. Unfortunately, we can't broadcast live commentary of Championship and League Cup matches online due to rights restrictions. We can broadcast FA Cup matches on the internet - UK only.
Guest Col city fan Posted 8 December 2012 Posted 8 December 2012 Quite looking forward to this one. It's warmed up (a little), the squad is pretty much all fit (with the exception of SSL) and I have a feeling it could be a nice performance from the lads. I want to see Waghorn turn his near misses into more goals and for King to control the game for longer periods. Basically, under Pearson, we go into games expecting to win them. It's a good time to be a City fan at present. Perhaps most importantly, I think the Morgan/Whitbread partnership is really starting to develop. I hope that's not the kiss of death but I don't think it will be.

On my old iphone I used the puffin browser which has a limited demo where you can stream flash content (14 days I think) and followed a link from the streaming thread that BoxingFoxes mentioned to get it to work. Obviously you'll be using data so if you can find a wi-fi network to use that'd be better. Hope your dad gets better soon though mate
