ADK Posted 21 January 2013 Posted 21 January 2013 We have had NATO for many years so i don't see the problem in a European military alliance.
Guest MattP Posted 21 January 2013 Posted 21 January 2013 We have had NATO for many years so i don't see the problem in a European military alliance. What happens if we need to defend the Falklands etc or France needs to go into Mali?
Guest MattP Posted 21 January 2013 Posted 21 January 2013 I assume we would still retain some autonomy. I don't generally see too much of that when it comes to negiotiating with the EU.
Carl the Llama Posted 22 January 2013 Posted 22 January 2013 I don't generally see too much of that when it comes to negiotiating with the EU. That's because Britain only accounts for 1/27th of the EU states which, when we're voting in opposition to the other 26, makes ours a minority vote. Democracy at work. Britain isn't the big European power many brits believe it to be and we need them more than they need us.

They sell more to us than we do to them, how much we need them is debatable.

We'll wait for the referendum I think to see true 'democracy at work' when it comes to the EU.
ADK Posted 22 January 2013 Posted 22 January 2013 I don't like the idea of a referendum because people are so easily led and uninformed.
Guest MattP Posted 22 January 2013 Posted 22 January 2013 I don't like the idea of a referendum because people are so easily led and uninformed. Maybe, but at least that's people deciding their own destiny. How do you think the people of Greece and Spain feel now after what they were dragged into?
Webbo Posted 22 January 2013 Posted 22 January 2013 I don't like the idea of a referendum because people are so easily led and uninformed. Is that any different in a General Election?
purpleronnie Posted 22 January 2013 Posted 22 January 2013 I don't like the idea of a referendum because people are so easily led and uninformed. Me neither I can see all those muppets just voting against it to get immigrants sent home not caring about anything else, although having said that I do have faith in the british public that they will approach this waying up all the pro's and con's.
Rincewind Posted 22 January 2013 Posted 22 January 2013 I don't trust general elections. The choice is crap.
Carl the Llama Posted 22 January 2013 Posted 22 January 2013 It used to be that we were 1/1 and could make our own decisions. They sell more to us than we do to them, how much we need them is debatable. Therefore it would make sense to no longer be part of the EU and have to pay more?
Webbo Posted 22 January 2013 Posted 22 January 2013 Therefore it would make sense to no longer be part of the EU and have to pay more? We'd still be part of the European Free Trade Area so that wouldn't be the case but we could buy stuff from other parts of the world if not.
acooling08 Posted 22 January 2013 Posted 22 January 2013 Nigel Farage is just what the country needs, fantastic patriotic man. I'm voting UKIP at the next election.
sphericalfox Posted 22 January 2013 Posted 22 January 2013 Nigel Farage is just what the countries needs, fantastic patriotic man. I'm voting UKIP at the next election. which ones are those? are you voting for them as you aren't quite ready to be openly racist yet. this surprises me. i think you're ready.
MooseBreath Posted 22 January 2013 Posted 22 January 2013 Nigel Farage is just what the countries needs, fantastic patriotic man. I'm voting UKIP at the next election. Labour will be delighted
acooling08 Posted 22 January 2013 Posted 22 January 2013 which ones are those? are you voting for them as you aren't quite ready to be openly racist yet. this surprises me. i think you're ready. Sorry, typo. I meant 'this country' And I really don't know if I am racist. I guess by your definition I am. Labour will be delighted Labour will win anyway. Guaranteed. Many Conservative voters will be unsatisfied with Cameron and will vote UKIP (me). Nobody will vote Lib Dems now, with most who did vote for them before going to Labour. And Cameron isn't what I'd call a proper Conservative, he's centre-right at best. At least thats one less vote for the BNP Never voted BNP, only voted once and that was for the Conservatives. I'm 19 btw.
MooseBreath Posted 22 January 2013 Posted 22 January 2013 So why vote for ukip when you know you're effectively voting for labour?
Guest MattP Posted 22 January 2013 Posted 22 January 2013 Dare to venture to the right of Labour on here Cooling and you'll be slandered as a bigot or a racist. Don't worry about it, the word is banded around so freely and loosely nowadays it's lost any serious meaning.
Guest MattP Posted 22 January 2013 Posted 22 January 2013 So why vote for ukip when you know you're effectively voting for labour? Behave, I agree it presents a problem and I'd like to see a pact but Cameron should pay for the lies he has spouted on Europe. I'm actually warming to seeing Labour in power again actually, would enjoy watching them try to govern and the keep the sort of people happy who vote for them while the country is in the financial mess it is in. Might finally get me up off my arse to move down under as well.
MooseBreath Posted 22 January 2013 Posted 22 January 2013 Might finally get me up off my arse to move down under as well. I'm aiming to move there some time in 2015. We will have to arrange a meaty barbeque round ozleicesters.

Up for that, he'll get more meat than he bargained for. It's something I've been considering for ages, problem is it's just too damn far away from everything.
foz.foz Posted 22 January 2013 Posted 22 January 2013 Thing is with all this tit for tat amongst all parties is how they are screwing this country up. Not one of them give a fcuk. They are all out for themselves. they are even trying to give themselves a bloody rise now.
