That is not my understanding, I think he needs to finish in the top 110 (all but guaranteed now) to retain his place in Category 18.    A top 100 place will though give him Cat 10 next season,  in which case he would be able to pick and choose his events more than he has been able to this season.

Yes you are correct I think. I reckon they must have changed the categories for next season as at present 18 is for players who got their card at the qualifying school, it may be something to do with only top 100 now going into category 10 rather than 110 as per last season.

Although Cat.18 will get him in quite a few tournaments, it gives him little chance of the real big events like Dubai desert classic, Scottish Open, Wentworth. So let's hope he can seal his spot in the 100 this week.

One interesting thing, in the above video interview he said that if he missed the top 100 then he would be back to Q school. I wonder if qualifiers will get a better category than 101 -110

Great round this morning in India, lipping out on the last for a tie of the lead. Should now secure his spot in the top 100.  Hopefully he'll get a fair bit of coverage over the weekend, it's painfull watching it on shot tracker.

I entirely agree. It was even worse when he played somewhere the other week, they didn't even have shot tracker on Eddie's game!

Just got to hope he can continue this form over the weekend & his card should be secure. Hopefully he can do well enough to get in the Genesis next week

From my reading of it,  he's very likely to get in to the Genesis,  though don't see him going unless a top 3 finish this week gives him a more than reasonable chance of getting in the play offs.

Well a disappointing weekend for Eddie sees him at 99 in the rankings.

When I looked at lunchtime, he was in the Genesis. Just looked again & he's not entered. Any idea why? Surely he's not safe at 99, I know there are some immediately below him not playing but it only wants a couple of players to have a decent week & he could be out of the 100

Started playing golf properly this summer (dabbled a few years ago and a played a bit when I was 13, but nothing sustained). I played 18 yesterday for the only the 5th time ever (usually do 9). I played pretty well for 14 holes and then went to complete shit on the last 4 holes (similar to last few times I've played 18). Someone said to me "you should have used a trolley, it's proven to give you a 2-4 shots over 18". Then I've also had someone tell me that you should put without a glove, another person saying you always need to clean your clubheads and ball etc. TBH I naturally dismiss a lot of these things as I think there's a lot of pretentiousness/bollocks in golf, but which of these things actually matter and make a difference from people's experiences? What other stuff is worth taking into account?

Well I never carry a bag, and 99% of the time play golf after eating well. I didn’t have anything at the halfway house today, and had the shakes by the 14th hole. That might have played a part in missing 2 par putts from 2 feet on 16&17

I putt with a glove which probably doesn’t help my point what with the above statement, but using a glove to putt has no impact at all I don’t think. It’s literally what you’re used to.

They say a sign of a bad golfer is putting with your glove on, but I think that’s a load of balls

No idea,  noticed he's pulled out last night,  guessing either his neck injury is too severe,  which might explain the poor weekend,  he could manage the logistics,  and/or he feels that 99th will be good enough.  There's only a couple of players (Soderberg and Crocker) who are in touching distance of him,  and a few more with a top 20 finish could surpass him.  I'd say it's better than 50/50 that it turns out ok,  but it certainly is a risk.

Yes I was thinking exactly the same & can only assume it is injury related. Surely he would play if not as he will not have another tournament for a few weeks after that & could rest up. The worry is that the Genesis field is nothing like as strong as in India, yet the same points are available. I think there's a definite chance that the 2 players you mention could overtake him. Let's hope I'm wrong

You can putt well (or badly) with any method. Your green reading ability, start line and pace control are far, far more important than whether or not you are wearing a glove.

Agreed. It's meaningless other than personal preference.

I started taking my glove off this year to putt purely because I see them all do it on the TV. I also took it off between shots as I seen them all do that as well. Neither made any difference other than I was slowing my speed up whilst I kept messing around with my glove lol.  Lads did say though that I looked cool with it hanging out my back pocket on the greens. Made me look the part.

Our course is restarting the ‘carry only’ policy this winter and I don’t have a stand bag. Literally 5 days ago bought a new push trolley too 🙄and delivered today I’ve had one of those waterproof hoods that the entire cart bag fits inside

So, has anyone got one of these? https://www.clubhousegolf.co.uk/acatalog/TaylorMade-Storm-Dry-Waterproof-Golf-Stand-Bag-Grey-Black.html

Copied below is part of the description of the bag

a walking bag, but can double duty "on cart" easily with the use of the new flex base system

My question is- will this bag also work on my push trolley without the legs flinging out?

Not that model but mine of a similar design works on the trolley without flipping out. You have to lean it forward quite a bit.

Down here, apart from the few courses that are at a level where they could afford to irrigate their fairways through the summer, most courses are going to be mud baths once the rains come.  No surprise that many will be carry only. Would like to see a policy where you can take your trolley but only in the rough just off fairways (although that will inevitably slow down play).
