Deep Purple Posted 16 March 2013 Posted 16 March 2013 I don't and never have smoked, and I was surprised to find that 20% of the population smoke. But the number is dropping as it has been for years
MikeyT Posted 16 March 2013 Posted 16 March 2013 Quit January 2011. Never felt better and i don't want to be one of those ex smokers that moans, but it really, really does stink on people when they sit near you and just had one. Makes me feel physically sick now the smell of it. Good luck if you're trying to quit.
MooseBreath Posted 16 March 2013 Posted 16 March 2013 Smoked for about five years, quit for 18 months then started again for about six months and now just recently quit again. Been just less than a month. Found it easy to quit both times. Hopefully this time it will last.
Saxondale Posted 16 March 2013 Posted 16 March 2013 Gave up for Stoptober and haven't had 1 since. Actual fair play to you.
Haydos Posted 16 March 2013 Posted 16 March 2013 Gave up mid-cigarette 2.5 years ago and haven't touched one since. Don't really understand why people can't manage it, if you don't want to smoke then don't smoke.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 16 March 2013 Posted 16 March 2013 I wasn't but after today I'm thinking of taking it up.
FoxesAreBlue Posted 16 March 2013 Posted 16 March 2013 Have never smoked myself so I'm probably completely wrong but I imagine it's like exercise.... People like the IDEA of quitting/losing weight and say that they want to do it but they quite simply don't WANT it enough. They just want the end result but not the hard work of quitting smoking/hitting health goals.
SystonFox Posted 17 March 2013 Posted 17 March 2013 I find it strange to think of reasons why people DO smoke. I obviously know them. They enjoy the taste, addiction, peer pressure, life's influences. But really deep down WHY do they do it? A stunning woman instantly turns unattractive the moment she lights one up. That for me is the pinnacle.

z-layrex Posted 17 March 2013 Posted 17 March 2013 Yeah to me. It's a turn on for me cos it usually means she's easier.
SystonFox Posted 17 March 2013 Posted 17 March 2013 Does that seriously ring true? Interesting theory!
z-layrex Posted 17 March 2013 Posted 17 March 2013 Does that seriously ring true? Interesting theory! It's usually true. Not heard the expression 'if she smokes she pokes'?
FoxesAreBlue Posted 17 March 2013 Posted 17 March 2013 It's usually true. Not heard the expression 'if she smokes she pokes'? Its an instant turn off for me too, also, if she's the one doing the poking doesn't that imply that she has a cock?
z-layrex Posted 17 March 2013 Posted 17 March 2013 Its an instant turn off for me too, also, if she's the one doing the poking doesn't that imply that she has a cock? It does in the bars I frequent.
Strawberry Sebastian Posted 17 March 2013 Posted 17 March 2013 Never smoked banned don't know why we can't just ban it, horrible
Bettsj2 Posted 17 March 2013 Posted 17 March 2013 Never smoked banned don't know why we can't just ban it, horrible £££££ Pure Government revenue stream.
Soar Fox Posted 17 March 2013 Posted 17 March 2013 I only smoke when having a few beers. I don't know why though, I can go for a week or two without having one then when I'm out boozing I feel the urge to buy a pack of 10.
