Deucalion Posted 18 March 2013 Posted 18 March 2013 Robin Hood wasn't a real person. It is an amalgam of famousish outlaws at the time. The name for any outlaw was a hood. Richard of York was born in what is now Northamptonshire, very close to the Leicestershire and Cambridgeshire border.. I'm not sure what county it was in at the time. But, just as Henry Tudor went to Wales because that's where his support was, Richard III chose to play his home game in Leicestershire. I believe the rivalry between the House of York and Lancaster dated from before the Norman Conquest, so being from the House of York is less of a claim for York than it seems. If this burial is at the weekend then I will try my best to attend. It is a story I was brought up with, although I spent many wasted childhood moments staring in the Soar for the bloke.

The blokes been homeless for over 500 years and now he`s finally going to get a roof over his head

Could be a great occasion and a great opportunity to reconnect with time, history, the (physical) land and random people of today. The Bosworth museum/heritage centre (or whatever it's called) is also very good, by the way.
