There are some ignorant people in York who think that they are descendants of King RIchard III, when they are not such thing -

Why not try and promote the city, celebrate something good/interesting/historical, or would you prefer we are still that shit multicultural place near Nottingham that is famous for cheese and crisps? Hopefully there will be a few performances of Shakespeare's classic play of the same name, get the RSC up to play in the Curve, or an open air version in Abbey Park, lets throw a big party, have a re-enactment of the battle of Bosworth, or lets just sit at home alone and cringe at the other people having "fun".

They've always thought they were more important than us, and how they used Robin Hood - who probably was never even from Nottingham - to promote their crappy city.

I'm from Nottinghamshire ('Robin Hood County')... Robin Hood was originally portrayed as living in Sherwood Forest. Everyone knows that, and it attracts thousands of people every year. End of. We're not giving him to Yorkshire, and that debate over Doncaster/Sheffield airport being named after Robin Hood was big when they were chosing a name. Oh, and just like you criticized York, you've done the same again. Nottingham isn't a 'crappy City', it has it's low places (like every City), but it is generally a nice place to visit. I don't think the people of Nottingham will be 'hating it', I bet most of them won't even care, just like people in York won't. At the end of the day, or as I see it, it's just another part of England's great history. Everybody should come together in moments like this once this 'debate' is over, although it is getting boring now. There will be thousands of people who have no interest in it at all.

(I think). And I've got no need to 'get over' anything. I was replying mainly to his part about people from Nottingham caring, when they probably won't give a fvck.
