Charl91 Posted 5 June 2013 Posted 5 June 2013 I don't know whether that guy is joking, or just a massive douche.
Fox92 Posted 5 June 2013 Posted 5 June 2013 I don't know whether that guy is joking, or just a massive douche. Was thinking the same thing!
Rincewind Posted 5 June 2013 Author Posted 5 June 2013 Not read too much of it. May be better in the funny stories thread.
MooseBreath Posted 5 June 2013 Posted 5 June 2013 He makes a lot of good points. Comes across a bit Indian at times, and is wrong about certain things, but for the most part that is a solid dose of uncomfortable truth.
Guest MattP Posted 5 June 2013 Posted 5 June 2013 Agree about the age mind, could never imagine getting married before 35, far too many things to do and explore before settling down to spend your weekend swanning round Waitrose and IKEA.
Charl91 Posted 5 June 2013 Posted 5 June 2013 He makes a lot of good points. Comes across a bit Indian at times, and is wrong about certain things, but for the most part that is a solid dose of uncomfortable truth. Go on then. Elaborate on all of his "good points".
Charl91 Posted 5 June 2013 Posted 5 June 2013 I think number 12 was a fair point! Yeah, I agree with that to be fair - I wouldn't want to marry someone without a sense of humour. Most of his points are fairly dreadful though - it's almost as though he's trying to be intentionally 'edgy' (like Dogbreath tries to be). Edit: just reading through some of the comments he made. Things like this I have given this considerable thought. It isn’t a matter of liking Asian women or not, it is a matter of the children being halfies, neither here nor there. Like James said above, it is better for the children to be the same as both parents. Or this “How about you Victor, would you break-away from a girl who you thought was marriage material if you got wave that she has a bi or lesbian friend?†I wouldn’t consider a woman with gay/lesbian friends to be marriage material in the first place. The worst thing is, looking through his site, he isn't joking.
MooseBreath Posted 5 June 2013 Posted 5 June 2013 Go on then. Elaborate on all of his "good points". Remember he is talking about finding the right wife, not the right fling. A wife and a love affair are entirely different animals. If you're going to get married, you want it to last. 'Love' alone is not enough to make a marriage last. Neither is personality or sense of humour. For a marriage to last it needs to be practical, based on reality, and not dreamy fleeting notions of love and lust. Once you understand that then the rest of what he says will make more sense.

lavrentis Posted 5 June 2013 Posted 5 June 2013 Or you could just marry a woman with big tits. The real question is if the woman has big tits and is fat, it that acceptable
Guest MattP Posted 5 June 2013 Posted 5 June 2013 He's talking about finding a slave, not a wife. Hence why Moose said it was 'a bit Indian' at times.

But the things you talk about aren't worth marrying for. Love and happiness are the only reasons to get married. I've no problem never starting a family. Only a woman that makes me feel happy could change my mind.
ADK Posted 5 June 2013 Posted 5 June 2013 Having read about divorce proceedures i'm not sure i ever want to get married.
MooseBreath Posted 5 June 2013 Posted 5 June 2013 But the things you talk about aren't worth marrying for. Love and happiness are the only reasons to get married. I've no problem never starting a family. Only a woman that makes me feel happy could change my mind. I agree, it makes little sense to get married. Most marriages fail. There are hundreds of divorces every single day in the UK. To be clear, some 'love marriages' will work, as it does often turn out that those compatible for love are also compatible for a practical marriage. Less than 50% work though. Hence the divorce rate. Therefore, if you're looking for a wife you've got two choices. Aim for love and accept a 50% long term success rate at best, or aim for a good practical mix from the off and your chances of success will be higher.
Rincewind Posted 5 June 2013 Author Posted 5 June 2013 I suppose one way to look at is, is to weigh up the reasons not to get married. If you are worried that she may be too flirty and friendly then she could get bored with you. If you have differences about child rearing then thast's another cross. I wondere what a woman's version of this would be like.?
Charl91 Posted 5 June 2013 Posted 5 June 2013 This might have been alright 100 years ago. Anyone who believes in this is a bigoted, misogynistic asshole with no respect for women. She should change for you, but you shouldn't change for her? She must respect you but you shouldn't respect her? She can't drink or have career prospects? She can't have a stepdad and must be at minimum of 5 years younger than you? What a load of bollocks.
Guest MattP Posted 5 June 2013 Posted 5 June 2013 Page 2 before everyone was labelled a bigot, this forum is getting a bit better.
