Renart Posted 7 June 2013 Posted 7 June 2013 The word 'immigration' in the title to a thread is bound to be contentious. Sometimes, however, things are worth saying and sometimes it is best to leave it to someone who can say it better than you! She is brilliant. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bJX5XHnONTI
Trav Le Bleu Posted 7 June 2013 Posted 7 June 2013 Well, Limericks are from Ireland. I'll get my coat. Bang on about the maths though.
I am Rod Hull Posted 7 June 2013 Posted 7 June 2013 I turned it off after 10 seconds because I can not abide that stupid "townie gangster" accent. Silly cow.
Zingari Posted 7 June 2013 Posted 7 June 2013 I turned it off after 10 seconds because I can not abide that stupid "townie gangster" accent. Silly cow. phew i'm glad you warned me
Harry - LCFC Posted 7 June 2013 Posted 7 June 2013 I turned it off after 10 seconds because I can not abide that stupid "townie gangster" accent. Silly cow. It's better to judge someone on what they say rather than how they say it. With that attitude I manage to respect her rather than just dismissively label her a silly cow having not given her a chance.
Head Honcho Posted 7 June 2013 Posted 7 June 2013 I turned it off after 10 seconds because I can not abide that stupid "townie gangster" accent. Silly cow. .........and this is supposed to be pro immigration video? **** me! Play this in the immigration holding centres and they'll be crying to get out of the country.

I`ll listen to all just for you EDIT: Much worse than I thought it would be, dreadful, truly dreadful Sesame St-esc drivel.

Harry - LCFC Posted 7 June 2013 Posted 7 June 2013 I`ll listen to all just for you Very kind. If you still don't like her that's fine. Can you not see the irony in what she is saying? No, what is it? After watching the video the message I got was not to judge foreigners and give them a chance first which is amusingly very applicable to this thread. I suppose that is an irony in a sense - her being a stereotypical working class girl who is in favour of immigrants. Was that it? Am I right?
Guest MattP Posted 7 June 2013 Posted 7 June 2013 A video where the accent and tone of the girl immediately shows the worst of the cultural impact of immigration, brilliant.

" those goddam Chinese and their china shop " she's right there though all the china shops I know are run by the Chinese , hell there must be one on every corner by now selling their cheap bone china tea sets. :D Fvcking hilarious ! is this what our education system is chucking out these days ? God help us all.
Renart Posted 7 June 2013 Author Posted 7 June 2013 It appears that the tone, style and register of this video has been offending the ears of some of you on here (and we haven't even got on to what she is actually saying). Therefore, I have, with some help of some techy web-based thingy-m'jig, 'mashed it up' with something that will sooth your anger and speak to your condition. Enjoy. http://youtubedoubler.com/?video1=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DbJX5XHnONTI&start1=0&video2=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DfEUxgazdA-g&start2=0&authorName=McNish+v+I+vow+to+thee+my+Country

(my favourite btw) Her words and tone have nothing to do with the era that that was written.
Renart Posted 7 June 2013 Author Posted 7 June 2013 Do you know the meaning of the hymn? (my favourite btw) Her words and tone have nothing to do with the era that that was written. Yes, of course, it is also one of my favourites. I am not sure that I understand your point (if there is one)? I also think it fits very well. "Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace."
MooseBreath Posted 7 June 2013 Posted 7 June 2013 I'm just surprised to see a female who has an opinion on something which isn't feminism or shoes. Crap rhyming though. Really grating. Made me want to punch her in the face.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 7 June 2013 Posted 7 June 2013 Erm... she's speaking pretty close to received pronounciation except when she's parodying the person she's quoting as complaining about immigration and therefore showing their apparent hipocrasy. But no - everyone has just waded in with their various prejudices. I'm just surprised to see a female who has an opinion on something which isn't feminism or shoes.Crap rhyming though. Really grating. Made me want to punch her in the face. I imagine that's a common occurance for you. Either way, in case you were wondering.

It used to be sang (as was Jerusalem) in every classroom assembly in the land, but nowdays its uncool to love your country and its past. We must embrace other bagofshit tinpot cultures because we`re lovely...

You've never struck me as so utterly joyless before now. Has something upset you today? Do you want to talk about it? I'm here for you k bb.

"Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace." I heard my country calling, away across the sea, Across the waste of waters she calls and calls to me. Her sword is girded at her side, her helmet on her head, And round her feet are lying the dying and the dead. I hear the noise of battle, the thunder of her guns, I haste to thee my mother, a son among thy sons.

A pretty atrocious loss of life and a war that was supposed to end all wars. I am still not sure what your point is? It ends on the lines from Proverbs that you have helpfully put in bold from my last post

I'll try and knock up a vid comparing her and Jacob Rees-Mogg.
Renart Posted 7 June 2013 Author Posted 7 June 2013 Fvcking hilarious ! is this what our education system is chucking out these days ? God help us all. I think she is pretty well educated: Cambridge, I believe, although, that shouldn't be a yard stick to judge her by! She also runs an educational organisation for young people (I only mention this as youth education seems to be high on your list of priorities) and has recently been featured on Radio 4. Take a look at her website: http://holliemcnish.com/
