I am Rod Hull Posted 13 July 2013 Posted 13 July 2013 One person in four has paid a bribe to a public body in the last year, according to a survey carried out in 95 countries by Transparency International. The poor record of some African nations on bribery stands out. Sierra Leone has the highest number of respondents admitting to having paid a bribe - 84% - and seven out of nine of the countries with the highest reported bribery rate are in sub-Saharan Africa. See the list below. The countries with the lowest reported bribery rate are Denmark, Finland, Japan and Australia, they all have a bribery rate of 1%. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-23231318
separator Posted 13 July 2013 Posted 13 July 2013 A mate of mine got nicked in Columbia for no reason whilst backpacking around South America. They told him if he paid them US$200 they would release him. He did.
Guest Posted 13 July 2013 Posted 13 July 2013 Note; Brazil, Russia and China all have 'no data' I'm sure the NSA could lend them copies
Rincewind Posted 13 July 2013 Posted 13 July 2013 Its the ones that have no money that are the worst offenders. Saw this the other day. Decided against posting it.
separator Posted 13 July 2013 Posted 13 July 2013 Its the ones that have no money that are the worst offenders. Not necessarily true. The ones that have 'no data' I would be more suspicious about. Brazil, Russia & China have some of the biggest economies in the world.

It astounds me that we seem to be importing folk from the worst offending countries, but i`m sure that some on here will think its "cool"....

Importing? So because you come froma country that has a high bribery rate we shouldnt let people come here? That's odd.
Guest MattP Posted 14 July 2013 Posted 14 July 2013 A friend of mine from Dubai said that about Muslims. He is a middle class Pakistani and he said the problem with our immigration system is we bring in the lowest class of people from these countries. Interesting thought.

Obviously within the EU then thats a possibility, but immigrants from outside the EU are restricted and have to meet certain criteria..
Rincewind Posted 14 July 2013 Posted 14 July 2013 If we drastically limit immigration, the other countries will pick or allow the best applicants in. Andthe immigrants themselves will choose the countries where their skills and qualifications will be welcome. I did see a report yesterday where we have the highest proportion of qualified and 'upper band' of immigrants so maybe we have got one thing right although I have nothing against a foreign national wanting to emigrate from their country for a better standard of living. After all it is what we all want at the end of the day. As Ronnie said our entry criteria is pretty tough and could take moths to process.
Guest MattP Posted 14 July 2013 Posted 14 July 2013 Obviously within the EU then thats a possibility, but immigrants from outside the EU are restricted and have to meet certain criteria.. It is now. It wasn't for years and that's probably why we have ended up with areas like Manningham and Hall Green.

Its not odd is it, its common sense. You can close your eyes and stick your fingers in your ears, thats fine by me but one day reality will kick you up the arse
I am Rod Hull Posted 14 July 2013 Author Posted 14 July 2013 Obviously within the EU then thats a possibility, but immigrants from outside the EU are restricted and have to meet certain criteria.. Yeah, thats working a treat..... Our immigration backlog of over 500,000 cases would take 37 years to clear at present rates http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-23295435 Lets keep "importing" this crap for a happier Britain.
Dr The Singh Posted 14 July 2013 Posted 14 July 2013 Surprised India isn't in the top 5, fooking land of thieves, rapist and scum that place!!

Needs must, if you think about, if your rich, or stable and successful why would you want to leave, if your looking for a quick buck, UK is definitely the place!!! UK needed labour, those colonies thought ££££££, many thinking free ££££££ and came across willy nilly!

What has the backlog got to to with corruption in other countries? And which countries are these so called 500,000 from...and even if you did know you are assuming for some reason they wont be valuable to this country? It seems your taking a map of corruption and leaping to immigration problems. You seem confused.
Rincewind Posted 14 July 2013 Posted 14 July 2013 heard it down the pub so must be true. The local British pub must be the greatest soruce of (mis)information known to man.

You tell me where they are coming from and prove that they are not from the top 60+% of corrupt countries on that map
purpleronnie Posted 14 July 2013 Posted 14 July 2013 You tell me where they are coming from and prove that they are not from the top 60+% of corrupt countries on that map I simply dont know, but I just dont understand why that matters, people are escaping those countries for a reason and the hope of a better life, its like saying americans cant come here because they are from a violent country.

I wouldn`t class Somalia with the USA This is the shape of things to come (although no one wants to know). Watch it all. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iUODVXIIKwQ
Rincewind Posted 14 July 2013 Posted 14 July 2013 Some may cbe coming from a country that contains corrupt people and some may not. There will also be some finding hout that the UK has some corrupt people.

There are racial tensions in a tiny amount of places no doubt these tensions may come from both sides but whats the alternative an all white society?, society will still have problems.
