What's the deal with this? Subject matter/ period appeals.

Is it full of historical inaccuracy, innovative, exciting 'cuts', cheap cliffhangers and paper thin hugely well trodden plot devices?

Essentially is this aimed at the baying, instant gratification seeking masses? Or is it an interesting watch?

It got cancelled I know that. Watched the entire first season and it was ok. Lost track of it though and never watched any more. But as said, it did get cancelled after 3 seasons I think.

I couldn't make my mind up, but decided not to watch.

I watched all three seasons, enjoyed it immensely. Although you're always left with the nagging thought of how true to history it all was?

 

But you can tell it was cancelled halfway though... the ending was really disappointing, I just need closure!

Awesome show, never should have been cancelled. The final series would have been epic it had set itself up perfectly!

Yes, was obviously not too close to historical accounts but followed it enough to keep it plausible. Loads of shagging and killing and everything in between.
