danny. Posted 1 October 2013 Posted 1 October 2013 How does any of this shitehawkery change the fact that £60k a year isn't ****ing rich? Because it clearly isn't?
Guest Posted 1 October 2013 Posted 1 October 2013 Because it clearly isn't? It's not that it clearly isn't. If this thread has taught us anything it's that 'rich' is a relative term based upon personal circumstances.
BoneDog Posted 1 October 2013 Posted 1 October 2013 Thats just awful. The tax payers could have at least given you as much free money for sitting around on your arse all day as you got for working full time, the selfish bastards. It's not really free money though. Ken's paid national insurance and taxes for most of his life. National insurance is for things like tiding people over if they ever become unemployed. I can think of a few who do get free money. Those who have been bailed out with billions for failing at what they do for instance. Surely in a real capitalist country those failures would be replaced by businessmen who could work properly.
Rincewind Posted 1 October 2013 Posted 1 October 2013 It would not be free money. My income would have been made up to whatever the living income was for somebody in my position set at and which EVERONE below a certain income is entitled to by UK law agreed by Parliment. I did not claim it because I was unaware of my entitlements whether they were 10p or £10.
midland_red Posted 1 October 2013 Posted 1 October 2013 I live in North London and confirm that £60K a year doesnt make you rich.....the really rich down here count their income in the billions
Rincewind Posted 1 October 2013 Posted 1 October 2013 Yes but they are becoming poorer because some are being told they have to pay taxes.
midland_red Posted 2 October 2013 Posted 2 October 2013 I wish they were. The country wouldnt be in the shite if the rich paid their taxes
Guest Posted 25 October 2013 Posted 25 October 2013 I'm amazed at how little £1m has now become. Most people will earn that over a 20 to 40 year period - i.e. less than a working life. £1m used to sound so much. If I won £1m now it wouldn't even see out MY lifetime.

I've got a friend who is going to be declaring bankrupcy soon and his earnings over the last 5 years aren't far short of half a million.

He's already done it: http://www.bbc.co.uk/newsbeat/24650433
Guest MattP Posted 25 October 2013 Posted 25 October 2013 Is your friend Simon out of Blue? He's already done it: http://www.bbc.co.uk/newsbeat/24650433 lol That's made my day, couldn't stand that lot. Bankruptcy is a swindle Of course, that's why he's doing it.
Rincewind Posted 25 October 2013 Posted 25 October 2013 Bankruptcy is a swindle The company I worked for went into bankrupcy twice while I was there. Changed the name of the company and reapplied to Company House for another license. The third time was refused so had to be liquidated. Hell of a job trying to get what I was owed. Never mentioned the company was in trouble. HO was based in nottingham and the only contact I had was with the control room which was another site in Loughborough. They either knew nothing or kept things from the rest. When our paycheques were late the owner blamed the post office. That did raise suspicions, a few days yes, but a fortnight?
Corky Posted 25 October 2013 Posted 25 October 2013 Is your friend Simon out of Blue? He's already done it: http://www.bbc.co.uk/newsbeat/24650433 Surely red is a more important name for the band given their debts?
Head Honcho Posted 25 October 2013 Posted 25 October 2013 After tax and NI it's about £800 a week. Unless you've borrowed beyond your means then you should be able to live on this. It becomes difficult when you say get divorced and have to pay the mortgage for your missus and kids and have another rental income to pay for yourself but come on it should still be a manageable wage.
Bellend Sebastian Posted 25 October 2013 Posted 25 October 2013 Surely red is a more important name for the band given their debts? Well perhaps but I expect he's feeling a little "Blue''. If you ask him if he's alright he just sings this: http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=HgV1O0X4uXI&desktop_uri=%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DHgV1O0X4uXI Is this the worst song ever? I've heard people call it a "tune" before. Perhaps it is if you have some irregularity of the mind
