Corky Posted 8 October 2013 Posted 8 October 2013 Incredible that the same writer can produce a classic, brilliantly acted and scripted comedy like this and also the never-ending, never-funny 250 years' worth of dirge under the title of Last of the Summer Wine.

I never knew that the same bloke had anything to do with both programs but I always thought they were so alike. Same gags and plots Thanks for putting my mind at rest
Vlad the Fox Posted 8 October 2013 Posted 8 October 2013 I never knew that the same bloke had anything to do with both programs but I always thought they were so alike. Same gags and plots Thanks for putting my mind at rest The thing is Ronnie Barker was a great comic actor. He didn't just act out the script he changed it to fit his characters, fleshed it out and moulded it bringing them to life, as ridiculous as Arkwright was he was a totally believable character and others fed off Barkers enthusiasm and brilliance as there characters interacted with his. Barker was the comic genius that elevated good writing to great writing in a golden era for British comedy.

The rest of my family loved it but it just seemed to be dodgy till, bike crashes, stuttering and nurse Gladys gags to me.

DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 9 October 2013 Posted 9 October 2013 Yes , that's sexy Sharon of 4B, played by Penny Spencer .She was much better than Carol Hawkins Just googled her and it's another case of a disappearing actress from that era just like Sheila Fearn. Saw Peter Cleal, (Eric Duffy) on tv a couple of weeks ago. Very old looking with grey hair.
