Red Bull to buy English club.

Times change, though. We didn't always play in blue and the association with fox hunting is a lot less relevant now it's been banned.

I'm not saying I want it to happen, I'm just saying we support a club that represents our city not a badge or a motif that represents a brand.

I agree with that, i dont see much difference in king power being splashed all over the place.

Leicester Red Bull wouldn't represent our city though.

They'd be a club representing Red Bull who would just happen to be based in Leicester.

The Royal Arsenal closed in 1967 but if anybody suggested removing the cannon from Arsenal's badge, there'd be a near riot. Similarly, a significant part of Leicestershire's history is synonymous with fox hunting, and we've had the fox on our crest since the 1940s. One of our first club nicknames was the Foxhunters. If anybody were to remove the fox from our crest, it would be destroying a significant part of our club's history.

Changing the name of the club to that of a corporate brand would be even worse than that. A club's identity is far more than a stadium and eleven men on a field, Red Bull move in and destroy everything but the first two for their own commercial gains. They're an absolute cancer on the game.

Again though, stadium sponsorship is not uncommon. I would prefer it if we had a stadium name that had something to do with our history, but if Arsenal aren't immune from it I fail to see why we should be. I personally call the place Filbert Way anyway.

If however we were to change to Leicester King Power FC, my opinion would be the same about KP as it would about Red Bull.

The king power brand gets on my tits, tbh modern football does. I fell out of love with the sport 3 years ago, i want it to return but it just wont.

I must admit it makes me feel uncomfortable, but sponsorship has been a long term reality. The 09/10 shirt was the first time we'd gone without a sponsor since 1982, so I've seen one unsponsored Leicester City side in my lifetime.

King Power are far from subtle with their branding, but as long as we play in blue and white and we're called Leicester City Football Club, we still have a bit of a soul left.

dont want it called Leicester red bull of course, but it's worrying for me that you think the way you do....

this football club and city have been around much longer than the drinks company have and the chances are we'll be around long after they have gone too and two simple words in the name wont ever change that... the only way it would change is if they did a Milton Keynes on us..

This is all hypothetical though... it isnt going to be us...

I would feel that the club no longer represents the City of Leicester but a drinks manufactuer. At least with our current arrangement I can cling to the same(ish) colours and name I've been watching since 1995. If that went away, what would be left?
