davieG Posted 24 October 2013 Share Posted 24 October 2013 It is a big game for Leicester City this weekend as they take on newly-promoted Bournemouth at the King Power on Saturday afternoon. It is an equally big game for us at the County FA as we team up with Leicester City for the sixth annual Respect game. As well as all the parades and half-time events involving lots of young players from around Leicestershire and Rutland, there will also be some events before kick-off. We welcome the Loughborough Students futsal team – the first futsal club in the region to be awarded the FA Charter Standard Club (Adult) Award – who will be giving a demonstration on how to play futsal outside City's Megastore. There will also be a 'shooting game' with the chance to win some prizes. These two events will take place from 1.30-2.45pm. Staff and volunteers from the County FA will also be around on the day, so pop over and say hello to us during the afternoon. There are also discounted tickets available through the grassroots tickets scheme, which can see you taking the whole family to watch City on Saturday. For more information and to book your tickets, log on to the link below. We hope to see you on Saturday! www.LeicestershireFA.com Read more: http://www.leicestermercury.co.uk/story-19980363-detail/story.html?#ixzz2idGakMoG

Dan LCFC Posted 24 October 2013 Share Posted 24 October 2013 In other words a certain shit refereeing display. Does having a specific game where you have to 'respect the ref' not sort of defeat the entire point?
Craig Posted 24 October 2013 Share Posted 24 October 2013 Probably the right place to mention that our referee for Saturday, Andy Davies, has never refereed a Championship match (or higher) before.
Guest MattP Posted 24 October 2013 Share Posted 24 October 2013 Those who want respect, give respect. When referee's come out giving interviews, explaining decisions and apologising if necessary for getting things wrong like they do in other sports they be treated the same as other sports. Name me one other sport where referees come out and admit mistakes? Believe you me, refs would love to apologise for errors but they're forbidden by superiors. MrSpaM Posted 24 October 2013 Share Posted 24 October 2013 Literally every time we have a 'respect' match, the referee ends up being diabolical

Totally agree with this, however as fans we also have to understand that they have a split second to make a decision and not the benefit of 76 replays from 7 angles. I've seen it in football a couple of times. But only from "top refs" and after a big game. There's a shock. Graham Poll did it once but there's no surprise there. Ford Super Sunday Posted 24 October 2013 Share Posted 24 October 2013 Paul Durkin in the Man Utd-Newcastle match from about a decade ago at OT. I'm sure Shearer was fouled in the area and he didn't give it, but went on Sky afterwards and admitted it was an error... Dan LCFC Posted 24 October 2013 Share Posted 24 October 2013 To be fair to referees I can't help but think they aren't given the freedom to do it.
Guest MattP Posted 24 October 2013 Share Posted 24 October 2013 Nice one, I vaguely remember that now. Maybe the FA should allow them to come out and talk now instead of trying to force 'respect' campaigns on supporters like they are naughty children. davieG Posted 24 October 2013 Author Share Posted 24 October 2013 Considering they're now 'wired up' I don't see any reason why they can't explain on the spot why major decisions have been made.
