Maybes Posted 2 December 2013 Posted 2 December 2013 To be fair, we haven't played many of the sides which we usually get higher away attendances against. Brum, forest, Leeds, Barnsley etc. We have also been to a hell of a lot of smaller and less 'inspiring' stadia. Blackpool, yeovil, donny etc. I would fully expect our average attendance to increase to around 2600-2800, or 3000 if we achieve promotion. We will end up with around 2200 at very best. That's usually where we are.
Dan Posted 2 December 2013 Posted 2 December 2013 To be fair, we haven't played many of the sides which we usually get higher away attendances against. Brum, forest, Leeds, Barnsley etc.. Birmingham/Barnsley are midweek. Forest give you 2k now and Leeds will be a $ky rip-off. My point about our bad luck proven.
Guest Bilo Posted 2 December 2013 Posted 2 December 2013 If we're still where we are now come May in terms of league position, it'll bump up very quickly. Wigan (5,000), Barnsley (up to 7.000), Blackburn (6,000 or more) and Huddersfield (4,000) all have the potential for huge away allocations we'd snap up if in a promotion race.
Dan Posted 2 December 2013 Posted 2 December 2013 1600 at Ipswich? That's not right for us. Myth. Doesn't look far off...
Maybes Posted 2 December 2013 Posted 2 December 2013 Doesn't look far off... Swear they announced 1400 odd. Or it might have been 1200 odd.
Dan Posted 2 December 2013 Posted 2 December 2013 1,215 went to Ipswich. Looks more than that IMO. I ain't convinced by some of them figures. It says we had 2,210 at Charlton - has anyone seen the picture? It looks like a good 3k

sylofox Posted 2 December 2013 Posted 2 December 2013 Burnley do real well as wellingboro is a larger town. Must be an empty town on away days
Out Foxed Posted 3 December 2013 Posted 3 December 2013 Burnley do real well as wellingboro is a larger town. Must be an empty town on away days I don't follow?
Dan Posted 3 December 2013 Posted 3 December 2013 Means that Burnley must be empty when they're away as they take the whole town They do bloody well numbers wise to be fair.
Ford Super Sunday Posted 3 December 2013 Posted 3 December 2013 A debate about attendance, brilliant!!...
Kitchandro Posted 3 December 2013 Posted 3 December 2013 Derby's home attendance is constantly good. They used to travel well as well, especially when the team are doing well, but have been constantly rubbish since they were relegated. Burnley have the best support if you calculate attendance by size of the place! They are playing well now, and they've started travelling well again I think. Think they took 3500 on Saturday. I need to look at the attendances. (Of course I'm going a bit back). Derby have been absolutely dreadful travellers for as long as I can remember. As for Burnley, sure they're well supported for the size of the place but they've never had good support in comparison with others. They consistently bring some of the crappest numbers and atmospheres to our place. In answer to Stu's question, there isn't really any 'excuse' for us being below Forest, or Wolves really. However, we're only a 3rd of the way through the season. I don't think we'll be below Forest at the end of the season.
The Year Of The Fox Posted 3 December 2013 Author Posted 3 December 2013 Look at it the other way then, why aren't we higher? Itd be interesting to see for each away game the % of what we took compared to the allocation given. 2k isn't that impressive IMO

It absolutely baffles me that we took more to Doncaster than we did to Derby. Both Saturday 3pm. Looking at the fixture list - if we're still up there at the end of the season we'll take some huge numbers. Even places like Reading & Burnley will give us a lot if we want it.

Only if they are not in the promotion picture themselves. If Burnley were still where they are now i imagine they will give us as few as possible.
The Year Of The Fox Posted 3 December 2013 Author Posted 3 December 2013 I love Burnley away. Proper ground and can generate a decent atmosphere there too. Oh and there's the cricket ground next door if its sunny beforehand.
